Agree with a lot of that.

However, a number of key people (fighters and their teams, the UFC officials, etc) have a responsibility for the safety of the crowd. They have to check their behaviour so a full scale riot doesn't break out, injuring innocent spectators who have paid money to watch a few fights, not be in the middle of one!

Khabib's actions on the night were irresponsible.

PS I also don't particularly like the way Conor McGregor conducts himself and I think the UFC should do more to promote respect, as opposed to arrogant bravado.

Yeah, i don't think it was good idea for Kabib to have done it, but can undestand why becuase of the build up to this, and the UFC as an organisation should take a lot of that blame, and for me, thats been the worst part, that first press conference was a travesty and i really disliked it.

An i think, due to the build up alot of trouble would have happened anyway, pitting the irish (who are generally well behaved when travelling) against the russians, Brendand Shuab intimated as much on the joe rogan pod cast before the fight as the reason he wouldn't go, so either way i think there would have been a shit show after.

Well I guess that's the Lobov vs Tukhugov fight off then considering Tukhugov was one of the guys that went after Conor. That guy is an idiot, he threw away his UFC career just for that.

If anyone thinks Dana White will be overly concerned about this he won't. Yes, he will come out and condemn it in the press etc, but lest be honest people will be talking about this for a long long time, and this will now reach millions of viewers that it previously wouldn't have. He clearly didn't give a toss about the bus incident because it sold the fight, well the after fight stuff may be a negative for core UFC fans but the overall exposure will be music to Whites ears. This will certainly increases the viewing figures for the next big event, and Khabib's next fight in particular

I agree with everything that you have said, it's a real shame for Khabib t

Adrenaline. Pure and simple. He, by Rogen's accounts, had been pelted with abuse from outside the cage by Dilon and when they're in that fighting focused mindset it's not easy to just switch it off. I imagine had that been a 50/50 contest and both gone the distance then they probably would have both just slumped in exhaustion but as many have pointed out Khabib looked like he was sill tanked up and what you saw was all that pre-fight stress just come bursting out at once, must take a high level of constraint to not explode like that. Not saying I agree with it, and he should be stripped. A lot of hate in that fight.

All the hate was generated by McGregor. His legendary pre-fight antics really are a disgrace. Both men should have their purses withdrawn (and not just Khabib)

If Khabib does decide to call it a day, he can do so with a perfect fighting record of 27-0 (unless the UFC decide to call the fight null and void) but even if it stays as 26-0, it's a phenomenal record which he can always be proud of.

I don't think anyone is under any illusion at all that White is concerned about this.

He absolutely knew what he was doing in the build up, and it is incredibly hypocritical of him to now say how bad it is for the sport.

As for a rematch, I think McGregor would get mauled again. In fact, I'm not even sure how excited I'd be for a rematch between the two after seeing that, at least in terms of the actual fight.
McGregor doesn't deserve a rematch based on the performance, it should go to Ferguson. Didn't have Khabib troubled once, but we all know that he'll get it.

I remember when Dana used to give title fights and rematches to who was most deserving, now he just gives it to whatever is best for the UFC's profits. I understand this aspect of course, as you are generally giving the fans what they want to see and it generates the most profit.

However, I think it's incredibly unfair on the fighters as these are the guys selling their souls out there. Not too mention that you used to get some insanely good fights because it was based more on who were the most deserving fighters at that time.

I hate the way Dana has pandered to every demand of McGregor's, he should have been made to defend the belt as soon as he beat Aldo (or at least once Diaz beat him) because as soon as Dana gave into McGrgeor's demand he became more than the company.

Oh, and where's Diaz's rematch?? Dana allows McGregor to avenge defeats but not the opposite. Hardly seems fair and I can see why lots of fighters have criticised him in the past.

To be fair to Dana, I don't think anyone could have forseen what happened. Dana has done more than anyone to build up the UFC into what it is today, a sport on the brink of being accepted into the Olympic agenda. As far as I can tell, this is purely down to both fighters and their camps and they should both cop it, but blaming Dana is wrong, even though I'm sure he takes much of the personal responsibility upon himself as UFC President.

Massively disagree to be honest.

McGregor and his cronies attack the bus and effectively get away with it getting 5 days of community service. Other than that, White is gagging to get him back in UFC as quickly as possible.

McGregor then sinks to spiteful lows in his comments in the build up...the sort of thing that is way beyond 'smack talk' and shouldn't have a place in any sport. White does nothing.

And alongside this White uses the bus-attack as part of the hype package for the whole thing, clearly showing that he didn't care about fanning the flames to get a bit more cash.

And once he's fanned those flames he then has the gall to turn around and question why he (or 'the sport' as he puts it) got burned.

I'm not giving either Conor or Khabib a free pass on this one. But for Dana White to stand back and say 'well isn't this awful' isn't really okay.

We both have differing views on the overall culpability for the shameful events we all witnessed, and that's fair enough. I don't think anybody comes out of this with too much credit to be honest, including Dana White perhaps, but I just want to say again, nobody could possibly have forseen or predicted what was going to happen if Khabib won that fight. Nothing remotely like it had ever happened before and hopefully, it never will again. Perhaps if Khabib had gone to Dana before the fight and said 'look, if I win, I'm going to want to kill Conor's team of monkeys...' he might have said something.

Naah. Of course that was never going to happen and as they say, it is what it is and we can't change anything now, but all parties involved can learn from it. Nobody should ever be free to insult an opponent's family, country or religion in a press conference again, and the perameters of that law should be laid down very hard to all fighters. Some things have to come before chasing dollars.

I don't think Dana is standing back and saying 'isn't this awful' either. As I said, I think (or at least I would genuinely hope) that he accepts his part in all this mess and as UFC President, vows to all his colleagues and investors, that nothing like this can ever happen again. The next few weeks are going to be very interesting once we know what is going to happen to who as a consequence.

Conor has already spoken to dana about a rematch. All dana cares about is money. Like you said he will be a very happy man today as the rematch will be even bigger after all that shit went down.

A re-match? Bloody hell, that would be the very worst outcome of this debacle. It would effectively validate the shameful events which preceded and followed UFC229. Does anyone imagine both fighters would respect each other now?

I can only hope Dana tells Conor to fuck off with any idea of a re-match. It would be nothing more than a freak show. And anyway, Khabib has no reason or motivation to fight him again. He's already demolished him inside the octagon, so why should he do so again?

If Dana agrees to a re-match, the UFC would lose all credibility after all the adverse publicity.

No, I can't see this happening and I bloody well hope it doesn't.

Perhaps if Conor is desperate to make another huge purse, he should issue a challenge to Tyson Fury. I for one would like to see that happen.

A potential 'ton of money' whilst losing all credibility as a global brand? No, I''m not kidding. Also, do you really think Khabib wants to or even needs to fight that scumbag again?

I listened to Joe Rogan's podcast today that had Conor's coach John Kavanagh on it and it was a really good listen, he actually sounds like a pretty decent bloke. Anyway, he said that Conor is adamant on a rematch and as soon as it was over that's all he was wishing for. Rogan questioned whether he should after how one sided it was and that he should have a tune-up fight, maybe against someone like Pettis and that if anyone could demand a tune-up fight it would be Conor and Kavanagh said he 100% could, but he %100 wouldn't, he wants the Khabib rematch.

While this is even less likely than a rematch, it would be hilarious in theory, but Mcgregor fighting boxers is just exhibition stuff for cash - him and Mayweather didn't even take it seriously and just paffed away at each other for a while to satisfy the (not sold out) punters.

Fury has shown that he's happy to take part in this sort of setup and is happy to take home a big cheque, but if they were actually going to box then Fury would absolutely end him, imo. Mayweather could've but why bother wasting all that energy when you're getting paid regardless?

I saw that, and you're right he came across very well, very likeable and spoke loads of sense. I particularly liked how he was talking about difficult it is to sell MMA for kids to the authorities in his local area and that trouble like this always gets brought up which makes it harder for him. Although he could probably have a word with Conor and get him to tone it down, if he doesn't want things effecting that.

I agree with Rogan though, there's no way that should go to a rematch, if it wasn't the 'cash cow' McGregor then Ferguson would be lined up without question. In the meantime Conor should fight Diaz again or Iaquinta, the problem is he won't accept 'going backwards' even if his performance deserves it. I could see Khabib having his title stripped and Ferguson vs McGregor for the title, and when Khabib is allowed to return he faces the winner.

Just a thought though, Conor has lost 3 of his last 5 fights (ok, one was boxing) and didn't even defend any of his titles in that time.
