Jasper on SO - This may clear things up a bit (I hope)

I USE CAPITALS NOT TO SHOUT BUT ANSWER AND CLARIFY:

15 Jul: Keep hearing the couple expecially that is been worked upon (DM and striker) if it comes off we will be excited: STILL STAND BY THAT

8 jul: DM sorted. Just a matter of time as with striker. I STAND BY THAT ALSO

7 jul: McCarthy not happening as far as I am aware: THINGS CHANGE AND THIS MAY BE HAPPENING HERE. Will not happen? I honestly do not know. I am not contradicting myself but sharing what I have heard.

This next bit refers to earlier posting

To make things clear, I was engaging in an interesting conversation and decided to add my very own opinions which is not based upon what may, or may not be happening.

Meh. Berahino and McCarthy do not excite me one bit. Hope someone at the club reads this post.

Oh and if, by the extremely off chance, that Daniel does...1) Get the fuck off your ass and bring me Shurrle, Pedro or De Bruyne. Pogba will do too. And 2) Fucking hell, baldy. Dig into those pockets and donate 8 years worth of costs and upgrades to SC.

It's not extremely rare though, just off the top of my head, there are Ward-Prowse, Jones, Smalling, Shaw, Sterling, Chambers, Wilshere & Sturridge that all played PL football without playing a lower league first.

Also, we wouldn't be "relying" on future intros, as he is being added to last seasons options, not replacing anyone.

My point is numbers isn't the issue, it's quality and I would rather try an unknown quantity from within our development team, than bring in a player, that will be on decent wages, that is known to be below average for the last 3 seasons.

I'm not saying sign no-one, it the right player is available get him, but if they aren't, then sign no-one. I'm sick of us having to move on deadwood and it seems we aren't learning form our mistakes.

That's understandable, but we cannot continue this problem of being hung up on just quality. If there's a need for an attribute in the squad, there's a need regardless of numbers. It just so happens at the moment that we're light on both numbers and balance in the winger positions, so it's a) a need which needs addressing via immediate reinforcement and b) economical to make that/those reinforcements coincide with our needs for attributes.

Honestly, I think we're so unbalanced that even an average player who can spread a back line via aggression can make such a difference for our turgid and timid attack that we could improve without an even making a signing of outstanding quality for the position. Someone, anyone willing to actually run at defenders and induce disruption (Townsend doesn't anymore, he plays just as scared as the rest of them) would be an improvement. This isn't analogous to us buying another ho-hum midfielder similar to what we already have, but rather more analogous to buying a needle to sew when all you have is pairs of scissors.

However, I'm with you that if possible to find a stronger signing who also possesses those qualities, that would be absolutely ideal.

Great post...fully agree we need some guile and creativity in midfield ...we also need some experienced heads in there as we cannot expect to blood the kids all at once as it may backfire ...

All itk are from my perspective limited but generally honest. I read with laughter how we hang unto every word of these guys. They share opinions and what they hear and personally have varied judgment. I do not think it is called for to start becoming forensic on who is credible and not. What has grammar got to do with anything anyway with one like Ben?

Personally if I met Daniel Levy and I sat in on all negotiations I would not share anything as there are some non pleasing miserable sods out there who have nothing better to do than slag off who they do not like. Sad people indeed.
