I doubt there is an actual conflict - if Pochettino said it, I am certain it was in the context of questions from the media, and Pochettino has shown that he will not tip the club's hand when it comes to talking to the media.

His normal stance is just to refuse to comment so the remark about a striker doesn't seem in character.

Indeed, which is what confused me. I'd just like to see or hear wht he has said if that is posible. A link to the article/interview would be handy. It is very easy for these things to be massively out of context, and Poch would rather say nothing than be misquoted.
