Just to note, Sven Bender has not seen the field in Dortmund's last two (possibly three) games. Still think this is a possibility since he has been high up our list of wanted DM's. Also think it's more plausible than Wanyama. Saints unwilling to sell, Bender game time, possibly cheaper with the strength of the pound)
I wish but there is virtually no chance he comes. If he does, I'll donate £30 to SC.

I think that work had been done on all those deals in advance, they just were not necessarily front of the queue, Managers will not necessarily know progress on all deals - so it may have come as a surprise to Jol that Dembele (or whoever) had moved to being top of the list. The other point is that Spurs (like all clubs has insurance on players - and that wil not be given without a medical (which itself takes a few hours to do), and likewise a player contract will take time to agree, ,so I'm not sure what the minimum time to do a deal is but doubt its actually 2 or 3 hours.

Just my onion you understand
Medicals are sometimes done after all the agreements and paperwork signed. Have you never seen transfer announcements such as "We have agreed the transfer of x player subject to a medical" That is the point, that way they can get the registration done with FA at the last moment and leave the medical until later.

ok, but the player contract ?

Not as straight forward as wages, there will be incentive payments, image rights etc. and even the club to club contract will take a little time to refine a draft.

So contracts - minimum 3 hours ? (But I'm sure a lawyer would hate that !)

Lawyer hate it? Really? I'm sure they are extremely well paid for working their socks off until 11pm (usually) on deadline day.

Considering the Son deal accelerated at an unprecedented pace, i'm not too worried at this current moment in time.
although JJ said we first made contact on 30th June

i'm very worried...........been down this road many times and I think we all know the outcome

Just playing devil's advocate here but maybe we had been in touch just an enquiry type been in touch and sounded out the agent
Then when the time came offer in accepted already spoke terms in June quick and easy like ?

Foreign leagues close in about 24 hours. I'd imagine if something was going on, there would be some information leaking out about it. If we all wake up to no news, you can likely forget any foreign transfers.
That likely leaves berahino as the last option for Tuesday. If that doesn't happen, then Kane it is. And with our luck, you know he'll get hurt while Soldado puts up 20 in Spain.

Would really love to hear if JJ is still optimistic. Would be a good time for it.

To clarify, it seems that when the window of a foreign league closes, then the clubs in that league cannot buy new players anymore. But they can sell players to us as long as the england window still open.

yeah but meant they would hate to be pinned down to completing contracts in 3 hours or less - or whatever the minimum time is to do a deal.

Your right I've never met a lawyer who was reluctant to spend more time doing the contracts !

Thanks for the info. Was not sure about this all day. Still think that if we don't hear anything leaking out by tomorrow, good chance nothing gets done at all.

Not so my friend. We can still "import" foreign players until 6pm Tuesday, but they cannot buy players after Monday night.

Best transfer window for as long as i can remember.
Got rid of a lot of deadwood, adebarndoor and lennon out would be the icing on the outgoings cake. Townsend would be 21 candles.
A defensive midfielder and a striker needed badly to give the squad a sense of completeness, until January anyhow.

Not quite true - there are some uk options. Not as good as Berahino but stop gaps eg Gomis at Swansea (ex Lyon) is reputed to have a £7m release clause. Good at holding up the ball for others, so viable even if not top class. I'd prefer Wilson at Bournemouth , young and no Pl experience but better potential than Berahino imo.

Gomis play well for Swans today, and scored one.

Callum Wilson would be a great option BUT as I noted in this thread before, he is Bournemouth's best/only shot at staying up. Staying up is now worth ~£100m due to the new tv deal. It is highly doubtful they'd sell. Gomis is a good shout, too.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, we have had no ITK on either of them so not sure we should be discussing them in this thread further.
