As highly as I rate Tiote and Diarra, we need an attractive, flair player. I don't know why we're so scared of Banega or Marin (or David Silva the year before, but that was due to money too).

Let it be known I'd prefer Tiote to Parker too.

I've seen him play in several CL matches and i think his performances have been quite impressive. He can play in VdV (preferred) or Modric role and even as a winger. In 09/10 CL match against Real Madrid, he scored the 1-1 equalizing goal which saw Lyon go through to the quarterfinals.

maybe yes.. that 5 looks a solid midfield but for me more creativity. more link up play and more drive from middle of field wud be needed. i dont see alot of goals in those 5 do you??

Some people on here see Modric as an attacking, creative midfielder with great vision. Im sorry but he is not. He is a deep lying playmaker who links up all the play and makes the game tick for us. I am not a Modric hater as he has been my favourite player for Spurs since David Ginola however he is replaceable and the stats back it up. Our 'attacking + creative' Modric managed to get 3 goals and 3 assists in 31 appearances in the PL. Joey Barton, Leon Osman, Parker, James Morrison, Kieran Richardson, Mark Noble and other average players managed to get more goals and assists than Luka. He is a far better player than all of them but he is replaceable. If we are offered 40 million for him we should definitely accept it and invest it in a CF,CM and a winger

Got another little update...Been told the 'quotes' today are agents speaking and not Modric directly..however its very clear he wants out...Harry wants Diarra or Tiote to replace Modric if he is sold which Harry thinks he will be despite Levy's comments. And Palacios out with Parker in...Parker deal looking like a deadline day move as Levy is refusing to sanction it until we get the deadwood off the wage bill...

Tiote to replace Modric...OMG, can this day get any worse...what a depressing thought.

As far as I know Modric has not handed a transfer request. That is a very important factor in this saga and Levy will not be held to ransom. There are a still lot of twists and turns before this comedy is over. In any case, if he goes it will be for nothing less than Stg 40 million and it will not be Chelsea.

Its always been a nightmare of mine that he would end up with us as I think he is a arry type of player, it is such a relief to know he is now going somewhere else....phewwwww :razz:
