Here's your weekend thread
Try not to break it.
That was posted yesterday and yesterday's thread was about as off topic as this thread is ever going to get.
So here's a refreshed thread.
JJ made a post yesterday which didn't make the RO because everyone was so busy either spamming the life out of this thread with wishlists or woe is me bollocks, some ITK from Hertyid also didn't make the RO. This is exactly why we try to keep this thread pretty much on topic. So thanks for being too busy spamming the life out of this thread to keep the RO updated.
Today that won't be allowed to happen.

Hertyid said:
With an associate of JB.
Bale - we set a price, was agreed initially by two clubs. Neither have bid that number officially and GB happy to sign new contract. Agent gets 20% of wages so no pressure to move.
Villa - we had him agreed. Athletico came in late, nothing we could do. Gotta move on.
He said soldado being pawned around. I know nothing about this guy but he reckons he'll be in PL by sept.
Also said we were chasing Shaktar guy for the last year but in end money wasn't enough, not sure which player he was referring to.
Final he said we have money to spend. GB seen our plans and very impressed, if not he wouldn't be signing up. Said JB and son very happy and expect a lot. all good.

Guess JB is Jonathan Barnett- Bale's advisor/agent.
While this ITK reassures Bale is not going - I can't believe 20% wages goes to JB & co - more likely his sign on fee (for new contract). But if its indeed 20% of wages - that's robbery.

great info from Yidio, completely forgot about him and his ITK. as usual JJ is great and informative and like he says things do change in deals rather quickly. who really saw us paying 25 million for Benteke. although I must pose the question....... would it have bankrupted Joe Lewis for just this one occasion to finance just that one deal and left our budget to other targets. yes it is easy saying this BUT it is his club and surely he wants to see us challenging, if not what is the point of a wealthy billionaire owner if they cannot be counted on to dip in their pockets at the most crucial of times.

Perhaps the conversations went like this. How much would you want for him ? £90 million. OK we'll have a think and get back to you.

I kind of agree with the Lewis dipping his hand in his pocket, however you don't become a billionaire in the investment market by splashing cash around willy nilly on footballers. And lest not forget he is the 308th richest person in the world, IN THE WORLD!

Since Lewis took over the club have been on an upward curve, no doubt about it. Could you have seen us fighting the top boys 10 or so years ago when they came in? So whilst we have gone up (league wise) have a new shiny training ground, new stadium on the way, all this WHILST balancing the books and making some profit, why would he change how we spend? Although on the flip side of that, a couple of Stella signings could "almost" guarantee champs league which the money coming in from that (TV money/sponsorships/exposure etc...) would offset that.

However he is the business billionaire so I'm sure he (and Levy) realises all that!

Off topic so apologies!

Could it be that they see a window of opportunity based on the current quality of the squad, the phasing in of FFP and the added income from the TV deal? Likely wishful thinking by me, but these factors should have some effects.

Yeah thats fine until one of them actually comes back with the money...

The wording of Hertyid's info leaves upon the chance that Bale could yet be sold this summer if that price was met, Bale is just happy should it not be. Dont know, might just be how i read it and i know how easily things switch in football.

Hopefully its just me being a little overly cautious.

There is a window of opportunity for sure. We can all see it, we all talk each day of how we are only a couple of great players away from challenging the very top. We shall see come September I guess.

I'm not worried until either

A) Real Madrid sell Ronaldo

Or

B) Utd sell Rooney, but even then they couldn't afford him, but the tapping up of Bale would definitely go up a notch, probably with old Whiskey face orchestrating it.

PSG, City may bid but don't think Bale will go there. All ITK suggests Bale is happy to stay, hell, most respected journalists suggest much the same.

I'm off to enjoy the golf and hope to return later to some nice ITK or some 'deal in principle' type talk..

Can we clear up who is JB? I know we all assume Jonathan Barnett of Stella Football (agent to the stars!) but why does it say "JB and son" ? I am not aware of his son being an important role in all this? Can see no mention of him on the web?

Also whilst searching up Jonathan Barnett I was reminded how he was banned from being an agent for 12 months over the Cashly Cole transfer debacle. It really doesn't fill you with a good feeling knowing HE is Bales agent. :-(

Really like and appreciate the 'dose of reality' ITK from Ackie and JJ, it really brings this thread back down to earth, which was much needed. I am sure there will be a striker for us, it will just take time. Obviously, the sooner the better (to get a decent preseason), but we're not City - we can't just chuck an extra couple of mill at a club...

Glad you worked that out, I was trying to think what Jim Beam had to do with our beloved club.

With respect to lewis he treats us (spurs) like any other business and from one limited albeit very strange conversation I had with him he does not know much about football. (In my opinion)

on the old transfer front we should wrap up a few transfer loans out next week. Ryan mason and an as yet unknown mystery goalkeeper. It will not be vigaroux who was added to the cokchester friendly squad to try and help him settle as a footballer.

coulibaly returns to training aswell where his future will be decided. Poor boy is homesick and it is ruining his development. Hopefully just a loan back to italy again.
