I thought he was complementing our players as England were playing well at the time with lots of energy like Spurs did last season.
I dont think he is the type to insult Spurs which has 4 of his Belgian team mates.

England played the best they have at any major tournament for nearly 20 years. A big part of that was down to Walker, Rose, Dier and Alli. We created multiple chances but just weren't clinical enough in the end.
Kompany was clearly complimenting us.

Still got a 1-1 with a poor Russia side.
Certainly not a compliment worthy performance IMO.

He tweeted it towards the end of the first half, when the commentators & supporters were loving the performance. In that first half it was just like watching Tottenham, with all England players swarming any Russian who had the ball, then winning possession & getting on the attack.
That first half was well worth complimenting.

It was a great performance. A goal from Russia's only shot on target in the last minute doesn't change that.
