This may be real reason VAR did not give Tottenham penalty after ex-Premier League ref analyses Arsenal footage

Tottenham should have been awarded a penalty in the north London derby for the challenge by Arsenal’s Ben White on Harry Kane, according to Keith Hackett.

The Xaka foul on PEH (that wasn’t given) in the build up to their 2nd goal was another “obvious” error ( to me anyway) that cost us big style. Especially as later on he gave a foul against us, on Xaka, that looked just the same.
We didn’t deserve to get anything from it but that was 2 decisions that might have made a difference.

Looked such an obvious pen, but the most alarming thing for me was Kane's half-arsed appeal. Looked like he genuinely wasn't bothered that it hadn't been given. 3-0 in the derby- you want him to be apoplectic

Nothing to see here. Have you ever seen Harry Kane's hold up play?

Neither have i, its just go to ground, go to ground go to ground. World class? Really? A man who has jelly legs and jelly body?

Sorry but that wasn’t even a foul yet alone enough to pull play back after a goal (even with my spurs-tinted glasses on).

Should have been a pen on Kane but we rarely get those decisions go for us anyway.

End of the day we got exactly what we deserved from that game and the only hope is that is was SO bad that there has to be a reaction.

If it wasn't a foul, the ref should have been more consistent in not awarding free-kicks for other similar challenges.

VAR is supposed to avoid mistakes on key decisions, so fans shouldn't be content to shrug it off as "we rarely get those decisions go for us anyway" - the VAR officials need to step up big time and start earning their significant salaries (may be low wages compared to a PL player, but very high compared to the fans who indirectly fund their pay).

I think last year it would have been given as a penalty as the bar was much lower on any contact in the area.

This season that bar has been raised to prevent players throwing themselves to the ground at the slightest contact. There’s more emphasis now on the tackle being a foul rather than a coming together.

Personally I feel it’s a pen but I can see why it was overlooked under the new interpretation (sure if the game had been closer I would be much angrier).

Harry Kane is no longer Tottenham at heart. It's so plain to see I don't get how people are still surprised by his apathy

It was a clear foul that the ref missed (i.e. a clear and obvious error). The defender kicked through his foot/leg - that can hardly be dismissed as a "coming together".

What annoys me is PEH, HK, Sonny and Reggie, amongst others look to go down rather than compete for the ball. This becomes a habit and they become lightweights in tackling (classic example Reggie on first goal). This is exacerbated by lack of leadership who should be saying 'fucking well get stuck in you fanny'
This is why Sir Alex F said, 'boys it is only Tottenham'. In my stupidity I thought after the battle of the bridge, we would no longer be bullied by the likes of Terry et al but how wrong I was. We are gutless and have been ingrained to cheat rather than stand up to be counted. No opposition would shit themselves at the thought of facing us because we are spineless. Sorry to rant but I have had enough
