Hopefully this link works! If not, sorry. New to this site.

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a summer swoop for Werder Bremen midfielder Thomas Delaney, according to Sport Bild.

The German newspaper report that the 26-year-old Denmark international has designs on a move to the Premier League, and Spurs have now shown interest in making that happen.

Bild claim that Bundesliga side Bremen are resigned to letting him go this summer and are waiting for a big offer to come in for the versatile midfielder.

It is said that Tottenham would have to splash at least £13million for Delaney, who is an international teammate of Spurs star Christian Eriksen.

The midfielder has made 30 appearances in all competitions for Bremen so far this season, scoring two goals and providing four assists.

I know nothing about him, but our main CM signing needs to be of higher quality than a 13mil evaluated player. If he is the second CM signing fine but our CM signing should be our highest priced signing IMO unless theres a really good player for 30-40mil.

Would suggest we need to set our sights somewhat higher if we are serious about progressing.

Edit: SNAP!

I could have sworn that someone (not ITK, just another poster) suggested Spurs might take a look at him ...

Me personally know nothing about him so no idea if the numbers quoted are worth it or not.

ITK (Herc) has mentioned that we should look to Germany at potential transfer targets.

It's players like this we should probably stop going for. We should just give Onomah a chance if we want a squad player.

Just a note of caution here. I think it might be wrong to assess a player purely on the alleged valuation placed upon him. Remember the ridiculously low fees we paid for Lloris, Dele, Eriksen and Dier etc.

Of course, just saying we are in the time where we should be aiming higher than bargain shopping.

I remember him playing against the RoI in the WC qualifier when Eriksen ran riot.

Apparently he is American/Irish heritage whose family moved to Denmark. Hth

I'm a big fan of this guy, I somewhat pay attention to Bremen and after they got Kohfeldt in as manager they began playing a quicker, more attacking style and rocketed up the table as a result. Delaney was a big part of that ascent, their fans say he's a positive influence behind the scenes, and although he's a natural central midfielder he can play anywhere from attacking mid to the backline.
He definitely wouldn't be a marquee signing but he's cheap, Eriksen's countryman, and would be really good depth.

He's the price of a rotation/depth player because he'd be a rotation/depth player, not every signing needs to be huge or made purely to improve the first xi

I literally said in my other post he'd be fine I suppose as the second CM signing.

From what I've seen his main strength is his versatility and that he's solid-to-good at pretty much everything. He won't blow people away when they watch him but he's consistently a rock in Bremen's midfield (even when the rest of the team is playing woefully like the first half of their season).

In all seriousness i know some wouldnt mind a shiny new unknown plaything but this guy is no better than winks (who just signed a nice new deal).
If were looking at centre mids, and we should, we need to be aiming for a higher calibre if player

If Dembele does end up leaving we should sign two CMs imo. We don't know how this injury and the surgery is going to impact Winks' fitness/quality, it's a major risk going into the season without a player around his level for depth. Not having Winks caused the end of our season to be full of Sissoko in midfield and I'd rather avoid that if at all possible.
If Dembele stays I'd agree with you, making one big CM signing is the way to go. However, losing Dembele leaves a pretty big hole in midfield that I don't think can be filled by one signing (unless it's a top, top quality player)

Although i agree in principle, we still have wanyama/dier and dembele/replacement/winks.
We rarely drop a 3rd man in to midfield and if we do, it would need to eriksen or alli.
So in my opinion one big name centre mid to possibly replace dembele, or if the oportunity comes up to sign someone who would be better than wanyama and dier then fair enough get 2.
However, if we can get wanyama 2016/17 fit he was immense
