I haven't really seen too much of Lemar as most of the focus with Monaco has been M'bappe, Silva and the full backs.

However, when we lost to them at Wembley I knew next to nothing about them and he was one player that night that we simply couldn't handle. We didn't get anywhere near him for the 80 odd minutes he was on the field.

Can't see why they'd sell him to us.

Monaco are running a very similar operation to what we are. They only ever sell for shed loads of money or for inflated prices with tons of add-ons. None of that fits in to the transder process which we operate under.

Just like I wouldn't expect Monaco to be buying our good young players I wouldn't expect us to be buying theirs either.

i think the difference is that their economic model relies on sales, whereas ours is based on the PL TV deals and commercial activity. After their Russian owner pulled the cash, they looked to set themselves up as an incubator to develop talent much like Porto used to. I don't even think they expected the success they've had this season, as a by-product.

Sure, but we're not going to provide them the boatloads of cash for their players so the point remains the same.

Plus player trading still remains incredibly important for Spurs and Levy has said as much.

Bernardo only went for 43mill, not really much in this day and age for such a coveted playmaker. Only 13 mill more than Sissoko ffs.

Lemar at 35 sounds about right in comparison

Bernardo was not just 43 mil.

It's 43 mil rising to 70 with all the add-ons and clauses.

Just like the Martial deal.

So called Super Agent Jorge Mendes seems to have had a lot of his players on Monaco and Porto's books at one time or another.

Yeah it's as much a business network as a club. Which makes the job Jardim has done this year more incredible. It also makes it so amazing the job Levy has done assembling our squad steering clear of the super agents, who just want to churn the money.

I tend to agree with this, but at the same time they sold Martial and Ferreira-Carrasco in the same window two years ago only to rise again. Wouldn't surprise me if they had other players ready to step in, much like Lemar did.

Gut feeling is this won't happen, because of the reasons you listed and the issues with agents/3rd parties.

Just seen that Monaco are supposedly in pole position for Mahrez. To replace Bernardo Silva I guess but maybe keeps the door open for Lemar going.

If Monaco are in Pole position to land Mahrez, they also have winger Allan Saint-Maximin, on loan at Bastia, who is meant to be shit hot, perhaps they could be open to selling Lemar...never say never
