Just wanted to give a quick shout out to the Wembley PA - I'm sure we were all feeling very down immediately after the game last night, and the loyalty shown by the PA in playing a song so completely inappropriate for the occasion that it distracted me from thinking about the game marks him/her out as a true legend in my book.

In case anyone didn't hear it, the song played was 'A Thousand Trees' by Stereophonics, a song about a young girl getting sexually molested by a football coach.

"It started with a school girl who was running,
Running home to her mum and dad
Told them she was playing in the change room
Of her local football side
They said tell us again, so she told them again
They said tell us the truth, they found it hard to believe
Cos he taught our Steve, he even trained me
Taught uncle john who's a father of three

But it only takes one tree to make
A thousand matches
Only takes one match to burn
A thousand trees"

Utterly baffling.

That’s a tune. Didn’t they play Human after that?

The PA is Pete Abbott. Which is handy as that’s his initials.

I like the Stereophonics, have met Kelly a few times and although a very likeable and nice chap, he's bloody tiny.
Had no idea that song was about noncing though, you learn something new every day.

Shame they couldn't get the public performance rights for Paloma Faith's new single "Davies Switched Off".

First album superb, second, although quite commercial, was still pretty good.
Not really kept up with any of the later stuff.

Yes...I prefer their earlier stuff. Although commercial, I like Dakota, and local boy in the photograph is a nice tribute.

I too found it odd the choice of music as we were sleep walking in a haze, out of the ground

All this talk of what the PA played, I'm here thinking we might have gone through if only he could've played left back ;)

(I'm kidding. Full love for our Welsh Wizard...ish...thing).

Haha

You can never hear anything at half time. Never used to hear anything at WHL for the last 5 years at least either.

I used to think we needed a new mic but now I realise it’s Paul Coyte.

Gibberdy Gibberdy Gobberdy blah blah blah blah talk really fast can’t hear a word then always right at the end UP THE SPURS clear as a whistle

It was dedicated to a "Bazza, who is going on a trip and won't be home for a while" wasn't it?
