Toby Aldeweireld - Where Is His Contract Extension ?

I was under the impression the majority of the terms had been agreed apart from the fact Toby wants a release clause. I can’t see Levy agreeing to something like that and I suspect Toby and his agent knows that too but it will be used to get slightly better terms. I imagine something will be announced soon though.

Where is your proof that he wants a release clause written into a potential new contract?

King had absolutely everything in his game, including pace which Alderweireld lacks.

They both read the game in a similar way though, so I can see why people are comparing.

For an interview today he has said "Nothing happening"
I hope this gets sorted in the near future.
Another comment when talking about Walker. He said: "Everybody is sad that he left. He is one of the best full-backs in the world and unfortunately he goes to another [Premier League] team, but we have to focus ourselves to win the game."
Nothing about missing the person or friend just business like- makes me wonder what really went on?

Nothing to worry about as far as I'm concerned, 2 years left on current deal, no clause, and if we do extend by a year on our option then there will be a release clause of £25m on a 30 year old defender in the last year of his deal. Hopefully we do sign him up again soon for at least 4 or 5 years from now but no need to be concerned for at least another season.

Only a matter of time until Man City get linked, pretty sure Pep doesn't know how to coach players so he wants to buy the best defense in the league

Toby seems happy and is the best centre back in the league. I'm sure he will want to be part of our new stadium and plans for the future. He's worth over 50m easily

Oh it's not that I'm not worried about someone tempting him, it's more that we won't get screwed because of a running down contract as in effect he's still got three to go and that final year he'll be turning 31 by the end of that season. Hence why I said 'no need to be concerned for at least another season'.

Haven't paid much attention to this thread, but it's managed 2 pages so i got curious and, from what i can work out, this could be the perfect time to resurrect the "old team" - it's not like we've gathered in a thread since our last mission when we successfully determined where Danny Rose wasn't...

...Don't make me warm up potatoshop and produce another "interactive" map. :sneaky:

Have to disagree, if Ledley hadn't been injured he would have been the outstanding defender of his day! Whether he would have stayed with us is another matter.

He was essentially Toby with considerably more pace.

With the money being fucked about at the moment, even if he signed a 5 year deal of n the morning or has only a year left on it next season, he's going to cost anyone who wants him 60 mil plus.
