Is it just me or is Toby a bit lost without Jan with him?
Understandable really. They have played together for so long they must be almost telepathic, so when they are not together the natural understanding they have is lost. I think together they are certainly greater than the sum of their parts.

I think Jan copes a lot better without Toby than Toby does without Jan.

If you think about it, because of his age every team that Toby has been in he's never been the "senior defender". Vertonghen with us, Vertonghen/Kompany/Vermaelen with Belgium, Fonte with Southampton, Godin with Atletico, Moisander with Ajax.

It's something he's going to have to learn very quickly.

Do you think he's suddenly thinking he should lock this contract down.
I’m sure if there is some kind of stand off it will affect form. Its Just always there in the back of your mind.Im sure we’ve all had periods at work where we had a little dispute here and there and it affects your performance. Also Wonder last night If he was looking forward to a night off and thought why me and not jan Or Davinson.

Look at Eriksen last season, he was poor for the 1st few months whilst his new contract was up in the air. Likewise with Alli this season, he’s not been the same player and it’s no coincidence that he’s also rumoured to be negotiating a new deal. Toby is highly sought after and it will come down to whether he’s prepared to accept our terms or whether he’s purely driven by greed in which case he can either knuckle down and see out his contract or follow Walker out the door for an extortionate fee.

Really don’t think we wouldn’t pay him the 100k tbh

Must be more in it than that imo

According to the article he wants more than our current wage ceiling of £110,000 pw (reportedly what Kane and Lloris are on).

It says north of the 110k ceiling which would be easily given for a player of his status imo

Kane’s next contract will have to be 150k + otherwise he’ll most likely be off.

I agree. However I have my doubts about whether the board share this perspective.

well, they will have to soon else they will end up building and paying for a 60k stadium without champions league football and without fans willing to pay to go there. The board will have to start paying players more if they want to keep up. Its only going to get more stupid

Pay him the money already. He is a bloody rock at the back for us and him and Verts work so well together. Great for Sanchez, Foyth and the other young players to learn from

I’m sure we had ITK not to worry as he would sign a new contract when the summer window closed, yet there’s still no sign of this happening.

With the reported massive increase in the cost of the new stadium may be we can’t afford to pay even partially competitive wages now.

Something is amiss within the club... no contract for Toby, Alli acting like he doesn’t have a care in the world, Dier regressing at a rate of knots, Rose spitting his dummy out, Eriksen only turning up when he feels like it...
