Would be nice if Toby was part of whatever we achieve this season with a nice new contract in his pocket.

Good attitude, he is clearly being professional till the end.

I'm not sure this will a sway Poch though, commitment to the club/team in his eyes means Toby signing a long term contract.

Dembele will get some slack, since he is past his prime, in terms of fitness and age.

We need Toby to just sign and be a central part of this new era.

Of course, just 730 days older than Toby means that Mousa is past it, whereas Toby...isn't. Riiiight.

Rose has come out with similarly positive comments but it seems to have little impact on Poch

Toby is a centre back, Mousa is a central midfielder. Midfielders generally decline before defenders anyway, as they play in a much more physically demanding position, and that's before you get into Dembele's injury problems.

Toby has at least 4 years left at the top level, how long for Dembele?

Mousa played a hell of a lot of football last season for someone who is often described as injury plagued. If Winks can get fit and share a good part of the load Mousa will be a fantastic asset. If he wants a 3 year deal (or whatever) I'd say that the extra few million would be worth it, even if he hardly plays the last year, when you consider what that money actually buys you in a transfer.

Edit; The caveat for all of this is if somebody comes in with a big bid for him, but with no summer reinforcements I'd still keep him. If we could get CL again we'd come out on top.

Also, pace isn't crucial to his style and what he offers. With the physical and nutritional regime that Poch has them under, I wouldn't be surprised if Mousa kept on playing at a high level for the next three seasons.

Well to be fair he's saying the right things. Unless he means you feckers win it while I spend the season sat in the stands:cautious:
