Carroll is NOT better than Bentaleb.

Maybe not, but he IS different, and possesses the creative ability that nobody in our current squad can proclaim to. Then again, so does Holtby, and he isn't currently with us either. Remember, our manager said that Carroll is good enough to play for Barcelona. Funny how he's not good enough to play for THFC

Our manager was talking bollocks when he said that. Carroll wouldn't get anywhere near Barcelona B's team

Of course Sherwood was chatting bubbles when he made that statement. I made the post to demonstrate the lack of sense in what Sherwood has to say. His actions very much contradict his words.

Remember who said Bale's 1000000% STAYING;):X3::whistle:
Sherwood?(y)
Sherwood has too much to say in public and not enough to back it up

Carroll is NOT better than Bentaleb.

Slightly different players, Carroll certainly has more of an eye for a progressive pass and can be creative alongside the ball retention/recycling stuff that Bentaleb does. Though Bentaleb has the edge on the physical side of things.

It would seem that Ravel Morrison has walked right into Carroll's spot, as they are directly trading minutes. Such a shame. Hindsight would provide that we should have recalled him.

Morrison
Leeds - 85 minutes
Birmingham - 87 minutes

Carroll
Charlton - 81 minutes
Leeds - 9 minutes
Birmingham - 3 minutes

When a QPR fan tells me he is utter shite, I tend to ignore any positive comments on here. They have seen plenty of crap there in recent years so if he isn't any good there, there is no hope he will be any use at Spurs.

To even compare him with Bantelab is ridiculous. Bantelab is streets ahead, he's actually performed in our starting XI, Carroll has not performed anywhere near to Bantelab's level in either the Spurs XI or on loan.

Did you disagree with my comment because a QPR fan gave you a differing opinion? I actually did a weird 'experiment' the other day, (mostly because i'm a loser and don't have a life...:() but I watched a QPR game while reading a QPR forum. The stuff he was being criticised for etc was stuff that I would have been praising him for. Maybe I just have a different footballing 'philosophy' (makes me sound good), or you need to apply yourself differently to be recognised in the championship....

Yeah.

I remember watching a QPR game where Carroll was always moving, always looking for the ball, and when he got it always looked up for a first time pass.......... As the QPR players stood around watching with jaws agape, as if they were thinking "What is this witchcraft??? A player who passes the ball first time along the ground??? Unheard of!"

Then he was replaced by Jenas.

He does have a lot of work to do on his game when out of possession, and he can drift out of games when the play is more direct. But he's clearly wasted at QPR.

Carroll has performed well in any game he has come on for us. Playing in a 2 man central midfield in the championship is different to playing in a 3 in the less physical PL. bentaleb is probably
The better physical specimen but Carroll is streets ahead in terms of footballing intelligence and passing.

And QPR are losing 2-0. I wonder if there's a way to compare their record with and without Carroll?
15 games Carroll has started - 9 wins, 4 Losses & 2 draws.
2 games Caroll has come on as sub (only for last 10 mins) - 1 win & 1 draw.
11 games Caroll hasn't played - 3 Wins, 5 Draws & 3 losses.

15 games Carroll has started - 9 wins, 4 Losses & 2 draws=1.93 points per game
2 games Caroll has come on as sub (only for last 10 mins) - 1 win & 1 draw=data size not big enough but 2 points per game
11 games Caroll hasn't played - 3 Wins, 5 Draws & 3 losses=1.27 points per game

Also worth mentioning:

In the games he cam on as a sub, the game ended with the same score as he came on. The sub appearance for the win, the player people think has replaced him in the team (Morrison) scored both goals in a 2-0 win.

In the games he started, 1 of the losses QPR were drawing at the time he was subbed. All the other times he was subbed (5 in total), neither team scored after.

We need a player of Carroll's type - a central midfielder who shows the ambition to pass the ball forward, rather than backwards and side to side. He might not be as good as some of the players currently in the first team picture but there is an argument that while he would bring less individual talent, he would improve us as a team, if only because teams would feel the need to press him to stop his passing, rather than keep their shape and let Dembele/Paulinho/Bentaleb/Sandro have a couple of yards to pass it sideways.

Personally, I'd have a playmaking pecking order of Eriksen-Holtby-Carroll, which I think is fine. Depending on circumstances you could have to select two of those three with either Sandro or Capoue in the holding role, which I would again be fine with.

Carroll needs to progress, as does Bentaleb, as does Townsend, as does Kane, but it would be great if we could progress a true home grown player like we did with Bale.

Sounds somewhat like a young German lad who isn't wanted by our current manager, no?

Indeed. The problem is numbers, we simply have too many players who arent quite proving they are as good as they can be.

Personally, I'd be playing Eriksen centrally, and not off Adebayor but with plenty of license to come deep and get the ball, and look to get in between the lines when we have steady possession further up the pitch. Paulinho/Siggy/Dembele/Bentaleb can play with him, all given instruction to get beyond Adebayor and into the box (pop in order of who I think is best/needs the least urging to do that. In an ideal world this would be Dembele but....), then Sandro and Capoue compete for the defensive midfield role.

I'd put Holtby in with that box-to-box foursome, and decide what type of player Bentaleb is.

When all is said and done we are probably two names too big for that central midfield spot (8 for 3 places not including Livermore and any other youth talent) - I've now given up on Dembele being anything but a shadow of what he could be, lovely dribbles on the halfway line that only slow us down included, and I'm yet to see who is better/worse out of Siggy and Paulinho.

Does anyone still actually think that Carroll (who turns 22 in May) is better than Bentaleb (who turns 20 in November)? There is a reason that Bentaleb is playing in our first team & Carroll can't get in QPR's side. Ive watched QPR about ten times this year and Carroll just looks like another ok player who will probably end up at a lower level premiership team.

Ive never seen Carroll play a cross field ball like the one from Bentaleb last night, Ive never seen Carroll track back & tackle the way Bentaleb does and rarely does Carroll play wonderful through balls like the pass from Bentaleb to Lennon last night.

I really hope Im wrong and Carroll becomes a world beater over the course of the next two months but I just dont see it. Baring in mind he is only 3 months younger than Eriksen and 2 months younger than Lamela (who has represented Argentina and scored 15 goals in Serie A last year).
