31 goals in 40 games this year, with one more to go. But still he gets slated by many who would rather have JD start in his place.

you forget how incredible Shearer's record was. Pretty impressive tally seeing as ,from what I remember, he was injured half the time.

think he could get 50 goals between now and the end of his contract putting him provisionally in the top 5

Only 13 goals behind Wright? When you consider the complete gooner-media wankfest there is over Wright's playing career, I wonder how much will be made of our Keano by-passing his scoring record with some ease in the near future? Will Keano* get his own chatshow when he retires, and get invited on countless tv programs or to be a loud-mouthed pundit with BBC-license-fee-paid-for-tickets to all international tournaments in the future?

[* if he wants to - I hope he does not become another ex-player media whore like some.]

This is true, whereas Keane's career has been spent almost exclusively in the Premiership.

In my eyes our most important striker, Berba is the more watchable and possibly the better overall player, but if theres one man thats going to put the ball in the net consistently each season for us, Its Keane.

Agree with the earlier Defoe comment too.

Fat Le Tissier 100 goals??
Didn't Soton have any decent goalscorers back in the days?
