So we are the only team that gets beaten in cups for f....s sake get real .
I have just listened to Klopp and he 100% agrees with Poch I bet he does not get stick for his views even tho he agrees with Poch.
Klopp is a clever man as Poch is ;only people that have not really got spurs interest at heart would keep using this "you must win Cups "argument to beat Poch with .

Okay, technically that's right, but in reality Poch has selected weakened teams in the cups because he's keeping one eye on an upcoming league fixture.

I think you know what the OP is getting at...
Actually, he prioritised the League Cup SF over FA Cup 4th round, not top 4 over cups.

Do you know what sponsors want? They want people to buy their product.

They don't care about trophies - they care about the number of supporters who will be loyal to sponsors.

DO you know how to grow supporter base? Its not by winning the odd cup. Its by winning consistently - so that people feel good about going to every match at the stadium, and proudly wearing shirts and other apparel.

Sort of fans we can do without imo. Tourists, glory hunters, those who feel proud wearing the apparel....but only because the clubs winning of course, I have zero time for them and it’s a shame there’s so many in the game now, especially at our level.

I don’t think Poch ‘has to win’ anything. The question was top 4 or a trophy.

Klopp is full of double standards and often, quite full of shit. He’s about to win the league ( unfortunately )
I suspect if they were in our position in the league he’d have gone all out on Sunday against Palace.

But his view doesn’t count as Liverpool’s record in the FA Cup since he’s been in charge is 4th round / 4th round / 4th round / 3rd round.

If we had a record like that I could understand the outrage but to be genuinely angry at 3 semi finals in 3 years is a strange one

So all clubs must win cups ludicrous.Only two cubs can win domestic cups each year.
Each year there are two possible cups to win not including European cups and our 8 FA cups and four league cups stand scrutiny against any of the top six clubs .So we have not won a cup for 10 years but if we keep progressing we will win a cup or two that is unless the people that feel entitled manage to push Poch out which seems their aim.
For myself I am more than happy with our progression and can only see good things on the horizon more so now that Poch has come out and said he is in for the long haul but with the want it now merchants there is always a chance that Poch might say "you know what this lot don't appreciate me so I'm off".
If that happens my optimism is misplaced badly and will be replaced by a feeling of doom and gloom.

I’ll weigh in and no doubt reiterate what others have said. Top four has to be the goal.

Players will sign for us being in the CL, not if we win the Carabao Cup. We need that CL revenue, even more so with the new stadium.

Arsenal have been out two years and look at their financial situation.

I’d love to win the FA Cup and I truly believe these competitions are something to value and remember, but for right now, where we’re at as a club, that CL spot means more to us.

Now sign someone, you bald cu...

I think Poch is dead on. Top 4 gives you the money, the credibility, and the experience to build on. Also, it's going to be really hard to convince a player of the caliber we need to join the club by showing him a picture of a Carabao Cup trophy. Playing in Champions League is the draw

If we were in their position in the FA Cup we could have rested everyone.

A weaken team is making 11 changes with youth players. Pochettinho has only used the Squad, in fairness to him and the players we've played a hell of a lot of games in quick succession.

Sponsors want a bit of glory - like we all do. They want a bit of that glamour rubbing onto their brands and products.
When the sponsor MD has the publicity shots taken with Levy then it helps if there is a big cup on the table. The guy probably doesn't even like football but he'll like having that in his hands and the picture in the trade magazines.
Plus a cup is a brilliant prop for a sponsor to break the ice with clients.

So sure, the money we got for that cup tie maybe didn't even pay a weeks wages for Lorente and Vertongen, let alone the missing stars.
But the bigger picture is we lack a naming rights sponsor for next season and my point was a cup could have helped to secure an amount hopefully much much bigger than £60m.

You might not agree - that's fine, but Emirates airways were clearly impressed by those Arse cup wins as they renewed their sponsorship and now sponsor the whole competition. It helped in my view.

I've been around a while. I've seen us win a handful of domestic cups. And I've seen us finish in the top four a few times, too.

I find the former infinitely more gratifying.

Respond if you wish; but I'm not arguing … I'm just answering the question.

That is the theory but hasn’t worked for us yet. Probably helped us to keep our best players. Sanchez is the best we have signed. I think a signing is more geared to the agent and what they get out of it.

It’s the uncomfortable truth that top4 is more important to the long term future of the club. It’ll be that that eventually attracts players and I would say the more consistently we are in the champions league the greater our chances if winning a cup will be.

It shouldn't be a binary choice.

Every other club competing for the top 4 has also won silverware with some of their current squad.

We're the only exception to that rule, and it surely cannot continue to be seen as acceptable for many more seasons.

Our critics will always say we've no desire to win things, and it can't really be argued at this stage that we're doing much to prove them wrong.

Klopp's Liverpool have won exactly the same as us.

It was only the away goals rule change that cost us another final! Yes we prioritised that over the FA Cup which was 3 days later and three days before a crucial home PL game. Even so nothing went right, we could have drawn that quite easily.
