Hi all,

We've done a round up of the latest Spurs related whispers using your algorithm. We've listed the sources and why Spurs may or may not be interested in the player.

Let me know if you like it and if so we'll make it a daily series.

I like this feature. Is this the first year you have done it? It would be interesting if you measured the success of your predictions / likelihood scores at the end. Certainly for future reference. A bit like the old fashioned ITK roundup on here.

It could prove a good tool for placing bets if it turns out to be more accurate than not!

Hit me with your rithm shtick
I want Lemar and Patrik Schick
Hit me! Hit me! Hit me!

That'll be a yes from me then... (*)

* Although I reserve the right to sing Corona's 'Your algorithm is so shite, so shite, oh yeah' if it doesn't prove as enlightening as expected...

Don't get me wrong but it seems to filter some of the crap newspaper and web based rumours we already have on here. The thing is we love the crap, even when we know it's preposterous. Maybe I'm misunderstanding but I'd love something almost completely the opposite. I want my testicles tickled. :cautious:

I wouldn't.
Me neither. But if you're that way inclined a computer algorithm is possibly going to be more reliable than Tele text or a man in a tree, pub etc. Depending on how well it is developed.

It's still only an algorithm measuring rumours/BS. By the time the rumours have spread to a point where every news outlet and rumour mill is reporting it(which I assume is what bumps it up the list) the odds wouldn't be worth the risk anyway. Only an idiot or someone with inside knowledge should bet on these potential transfer markets for anything more than a bit of fun. They really are far too much of a risk.

I was really only playing around and not into betting - and only because ive been reading an interesting book about a future world where algorithms will know you better than yourself (facebook already does).

Ultimately it depends on the quality of the algorithm. If it self corrects based on the bs etc and you could exploit it before the bookies are on to it then you could hypothetically make a few quid.

Have to disagree. No algorithm will ever be able to predict transfers based purely on media rumours early enough to beat the bookies.

Well, if they can bet on the value of stock in the stock market better than humans, then who knows....

And I'm not sure the whispers rumours are just based on media speculation- thought it took into account various factors (so they say iirc). Whether they do or not I don't know. Things like contract length, clubs purchasing propensity etc could all be factored in. Pie in the sky stuff but you certainly can't rule it out as being impossible. Not in today's world. Blows my mind some of the stuff that is going on in that field.

Actually - it does seem to be based just on the media atm. Room for development!

Yeah but that is all about changing trends and real life situations that impact movement on the stock market. While some speculation will be spot on, there is just far too much stuff just completely made up by agents, clubs and journalists in order to further their own agenda.
