Agree with both, was hoping JJetset would offer some insight into any change in priority/expectations for the seasons ahead. Poch has appeared to have moved the goalposts.
I can't see anything but a trophy being a step forward from this season. Maybe a really good run in CL, too.

We definitely do need to start winning trophies to be considered truly successful. But next season finishing 2nd and quarter finals or better of The Champions League would be a step forward I think. It would show we've arrived and go a long way to cementing our position as a major force in England and Europe.

We need to model ourselves on Atletico. For a long time they were also rans in Spain and forever in the shadow of their city neighbours. Now they win titles and hit Champions League finals despite having far less in terms of resources.

They are proof it can be done with right management and emphasis on team over individuals.

How do we do that? I kind of hope our plan is already to beat teams wealthier than ourselves.

Always emphasise the collective and the system. Our individual players may not be as talented but the team can be greater than the sum of their parts. They need to be well organised, understand the system inside out and fight for each other. Basically adding to the squad with players that will work for the team and fit into the system. Don't just get a few marquee signings on big wages like we would have done in the past and expect to automatically improve.

Essentially exactly what Poch is already doing...

Also by not paying taxes or their debts.

challenge now is to kick on and compete for the title every season
Staying in the top 4 and this are one and the same in my book. Unless you are right up there, you don't get top 4 either. We were competing for the title till last week and we still could have lost top four even then. The margins are often tiny.

So we have secured a top 3 finish after this weekend of results, not bad considering we lost.

The top four finish is quite interesting, and should United win tomorrow night, it brings a potential variations on whom could finish 2nd through to 5th.

Spurs - 2nd or 3rd.
Arsenal 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th.
City - 3rd, 4th or 5th
United - 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th or 7th

We need 1 more point to secure 2nd spot finish, which would be amazing, if United win both their games they'll finish on 69 points, 1 behind us.
Pretty amazing given their season.

If Arsenal lose to villa, at home on the last game of the season, they could finish 5th if City win and united win both - very unlikely, but would be fun to see.

Arsenal will beat villa, I'm pretty certain of that. We have to hope Sunderland win this week to give us an easier ride at st James'. However, either way, we need to go up north and get a result - it shouldn't have come to this and I hope the team learn as much as possible from the highs and lows of this season: it has been one hell of a ride.

Not bad going into the final weekend knowing that 3rd is the worst we can get. Wouldn't want to be a city/utd or Arse fan.

Scum need 1 point for 3rd

If they lose and end up 5th that would just be incredible

Man Utd could still end up 3rd......

An amazing season, but in my opinion, we desperately need that point to finish above Arsenal and get that monkey off our back. So many pundits and commentators love announcing that at this stage of the season. Not since 94/95 ..... Come on You Spurs. Please don't let It be a coulda woulda shoulda season. Go up there and finish on a high.

The real challenge IMO is to start winning trophies.

100% this.

Was in Barcelona last week, and did a tour of Camp Nou. Just seeing all that silverware lined up for what seemed like a mile, then 5 European cups laid out on the other side made me just a tad envious. Alright, I know its Barcelona, and they have more money than just about anyone else in world football, but it shows how much we fell from grace as the 1990's began.

We had, and actually still do have a proper footballing pedigree, and have had some fantastic players in the past. But we've shown nothing for it really in the last couple decades. This has to change.

With the new stadium containing a "Tottenham Experience" Museum, its going to look quite sparse with only a handful of major honours, and nothing at all very recent. We need to start winning silverware again, and soon.

If you think our museum is sparse spare a thought for our dear friends over in the east end, the curator of their museum is none other than fucking moses himself.

Here's another way to look at this season: when was the last time we entered the month of May with a chance of winning the championship, even if it was only a slight chance? 1985? 1982? For all the progress we've made and the success I hope we'll achieve, I hope we never acquire that sense of entitlement you see from the fans you mention.
