For me, the best thing about that article was the discovery that the city fathers of one city (well ... two cities, actually) had decided to name their club 'Sporting Kansas City'.

Next: 'Cincinnati Albion'?

It's always seemed a bit odd to me just like 'Real salt Lake' but as long as nobody uses 'Hotspur' we're ok.

Albion is another name for Great Britain so not sure how that would make sense?

That was my point. It's a joke. The only well-known club called 'Sporting [insert city]' is in Portugal.

I mean, even 'Sporting San Francisco' would be pushing it, but 'Sporting Kansas City'??

Oh I get it. Seeing as they still call football "soccer" and drive on the wrong side of the road, I think we can allow them a few slip ups don't you? Gotta start somewhere I suppose :rolleyes:
