Completely agree with a number of comments here. My two pennies on this:

1) IMO the important thing is getting £££ out of the deal - it always has been with shirt sponsorship and it always will be. If Nike offer the most then good for them, just do it and all that shit, i'm a convert.

2) The hook for any commercial deal has to be airtime and exposure - the new stadium, (hopefully) competing more regularly in the CL and the American football deal are all massive hooks on this. This could be a great deal for all parties if we get it right.

3) Yes all their kits are the fucking same not a huge issue for me but what's that about??? i mean seriously, the biggest sporting brand on the planet has a template and just changes the fucking colours on it??

The fact Hodgson got asked about the new England kit 'backlash' in a press conference and Nike and the FA have had to come out to defend it says it all.

Hopefully things like this and the problems they've had in the States will help Spurs turn their noses up despite the money they'll no doubt be offering.

God help some on here when Nike come out with a new Spurs shirt with red socks.

Hah. I wish our media here had enough pull to get comment from the manager and association. Because the complaints about kits are wide spread also. This template Nike has our nations on is horrendous and the color schemes are shit. Hell, the only difference between the US' and England's home kit is the fucking crest!

Unfortunately, our program and talent pool just suck major dick to the point that we're about to be knocked out of WCQ and the Olympics all in the same night tonight so thats the story here instead of the kits(bodes well for Englands chances with CCV tbh)

Part of the recent problem with international kits is the FIFA and UEFA rules regarding kits.

No excuse regarding the actual designs and colour choices but it is relevant.

Their last kit was a thing of beauty. This one isnt. This template is terrible.

This. France looked absolutely spectacular in Brazil. Couldn't help watching them play with envy, as their kits looked perfect for Spurs.

FML. Obviously it's impossible to please all of the people all of the time and whilst Nike do use template designs on many kits they don't on ALL kits. Take note of the Croatia and Turkey kits as an example. Both are brilliant IMO although I'm sure those that constantly harp on about wanting a plain white 1960's throw back kit EVERY season won't agree. YAWN.

It will be down to the club to dictate to Nike whether they are happy with one of the template designs or to have something different.

The reality is that Nike are the world leading sports brand and it makes sense for us to secure a lucrative deal with them especially with their lack of presence in the Premier league right now and with our new stadium on the way.

Under Armour have done a decent job overall but lets not forget that some of their kits were pretty awful too. I've never hidden my appreciation for Nike apparel in general but in all honesty I think Adidas are the ones that have upped their game lately when it comes to football kits. They're producing some fantastic designs such as the ones below.....

Agree with the above. Nike makes sense for us financially and is probably going to happen. IMO though, Adidas > Nike.

Ew, the Nike template looks like superhero armour. Turkey is Spiderman. They all have this chest plate area like Batman.

However, it will be funny watching all the fat blokes squeezing into them and looking like a sausage wrapped in cling film.

I didn't know there were any rules? Well I knew it had to be two piece after Cameroon...

Not a new rule, but looks like they or Nike are pushing it

Rule 2, section 35 of the World Cup 2014 regulations states: “Each team shall inform FIFA of two different and contrasting colours (i.e. strips). One predominately dark and one predominately light for its official and reserve kit.”
