There was talk ages ago of a Nike Shirt + Stadium deal- its looking more probable that at least the Shirt part will happen- I think we recently got some ITK on this as well

Tottenham in talks over £30m-a-year suppliers' deal with sportswear giants Nike
  • Tottenham are close to sealing a big-money suppliers' deal with Nike
  • Nike missed out on previous deals for Manchester United and Arsenal
Tottenham are understood to be deep in discussions for Nike to become their next kit suppliers in what would be at least a £30million-a-year deal.

The current contract with American giants Under Armour, whose football expansion in the UK has not happened as quickly as expected, expires at the end of next season and Spurs will want a new mega shirt agreement in place for when they move into their new ground in 2018.

Certainly, a shirt deal with Spurs is high on the Nike wish-list, especially as they lost Manchester United to adidas and Arsenal to Puma in recent times and do not supply a major London club.

Equally, Tottenham's hard-bargaining chairman Daniel Levy will demand a price befitting a top four or better Barclays Premier League club, which Spurs are set to become this season.

Levy is sure to insist that Nike pay more than the £30m-a-year Chelsea receive from adidas, although even he will not get near the £75m annually that adidas pay Manchester United. Under Armour signed up with Spurs in 2011 for £10m-a-year.

Meh money talks but I like UA... Doesn't really bother me too much. Will be more promotion with Nike.

Whilst the money will be nice, I really don't like their kits. Always plain, generic and most importantly baggy and ill-fitting.

UA are great kits. But Nike is sold everywhere. They may even give us a hand with a player or two if we are their only big UK team.

Exciting times ahead. Biggest stadium in London. Nike. Bumper kit deal. Stadium deal, then NFL exposure to boot.

I agree with them being generic, and in the early-mid 2000's they fit horribly, but the new ones are pretty nice. I have a lot of trouble finding my shirt size for football kits but I just got a Nike Zambia shirt and its the best fitting shirt I've ever had.

Couldn't think of any Nike kits off the top of my head so looked some up. Is Nike's design department one bloke with some tracing paper?

Even Barcelona aren't exempt from that side stripe Nike seems to have put on every kit this season. Frankly, I'd rather we stick with UA, remain one of their biggest clients and receive unique kits.

Rather stick with UA where we have our own identity and are their biggest clients in football. Plus, they've made some really, really nice kits. Rather not get put on some template that every other club has. Plus the nike shirt fits are AWFUL. Never a perfect fit. 90% of the time, they are way too tight. The other 10%, they are too loose. UA's fit is perfect.

Galatasaray usually have great kits. Not sure how long Nike has had that contract. I havent been a fan of the UA kits at all, either in design or fitting, but I like loose fitting shirts.

As an international fan, the best part about Nike getting the kit deal will be the retail distribution of the replica kits. Nike football shirts end up fucking everywhere. Still haven't seen one of the under armor shirts (and never saw one of the Puma ones) in any retail situation in my corner of the world.

this. Nike is huge in the States and this alone will bring new fans. This may not make sense to the British but few Americans have any real ties to a British club.

One of the reasons I supported spurs was cos I liked the kit. check the avatar. When your 9 years old or whatever its as good a reason as any.

ok, I stand corrected. I happened to live in the UK as a teenager and I liked the name Hotspur and erroneously equated Tottenham with Tottenham Court Road where I saw Star Wars. So yeah, that was pretty dumb.

Big fan of the more generic approach that Nike and Adidas take in their kit designs. Always looking clean and fresh.

Also intriguing to see some members in this thread praising UA even though whenever we release a kit those same individuals moan about it endlessly in that thread...

Would love it if UA would propose a deal that could compete with Nike. I don't buy the "Nike is big in the US-thing". UA is freakin' big there, too. However, even if the 10M kit deal was great at the time, money most rule this decision.

Was only the kit with the piss stains that was bad. Rest are nice.

Gutted if this happens. Levy is going to squeeze every penny out of the new supplier and quite rightly but this is most likely going to price Under Armour out :(

On to 5 years of uninspiring generic cheaply mad tat hanging up in JD Sports.
