Alasdair Gold has shared what Tottenham Hotspur coaches absolutely love about youngster Oliver Skipp. Skipp is enjoying a run in the Spurs side over the past couple of games after Rodrigo Bentancur was ruled out for the remainder of the season.

The 22-year-old started alongside Pape Matar Sarr for Tottenham’s trip to the San Siro last week, with both of the youngsters impressing despite a 1-0 defeat.

I think its easy to get carried away with the youngsters after a couple good showings. But credit to both skipp and Sarr who have done themselves no harm at all with solid performances.

I'm still a little unsure of how we want our CMs to play and can't be an easy environment to step into for both.

It's almost like you need to be the most well rounded footballer in the world to play in a conte midfield. Solid, tactically aware, don't leave any gaps but still expected to create and get the odd goal. And the add some insane pressing like bentancur does sometimes.

Tough gig for a kid but both adapting well atm.

This applies for most positions in Conte’s system. Which is why I don’t really buy into his tactical genius. With the players he needs for his system to work you could play pretty much any system and get the same results.

It's more than just a couple of showings for Skipp though, he was great at Norwich and was quite literally improving every game for us until his unfortunate injuries.
Hopefully, this run is getting his fitness and his form and trajectory will continue on the same path as it was.

Skipp is scarcely a “kid” or a youth footballer. He’s been appearing for the Spurs first team since he was 18 and was a mainstay for the best side in the Championship when he was out on loan. He’s experienced playing against top level clubs now, too.

Time to stop patronising him and just think of him as a key squad member.

If he stays fit and plays regularly for the rest of season I reckon he’ll be in a England squad by the end of season
