First came a glorious vision of the new Tottenham and then arrived the jolting realisation that their past might not be buried as deeply as Mauricio Pochettino would wish.

click bait- save the click:

As Harry Winks put it: 'We said before the game that it was must-win, so to come away with a defeat... everyone is fuming.'

Shortly afterwards, the Spursy word was brought up. Winks responded: 'I have to be careful about this. We are doing really well. We have had one defeat since Arsenal away.

'We have had some fantastic results in the Champions League and the Premier League and it is important we don't get carried away with a defeat. Listen, when people say that on social media, that is their own opinion, but inside the club we know how far we can go. We have belief."

It could still prove to be a one-off, a rogue wave at a busy time of the season and soon forgotten. The inclination is to go along with that because Pochettino and his players have earned the right to such belief

The author obviously hasn't visited SC since the game :D

And today's word is 'belief'
Thanks Mr.Winks.
Haven't read it obviously.

One swallow doth not a Summer make
and one defeat doth not a season break.

Yet we've lost 5 games out of 20 - 25% of our matches, we have lost. In the unlikely event we maintain a 75% win rate 25% loss rate and 0% draw rate, it's good for 85 points over the season.
I'd say Liverpool will be well into the 90's and we know this City slump will end sooner rather than later.
We're yet to play Chelsea, Liverpool or City away either. I suspect that 75% win ratio will drop by May.

Our form seems to be veering from red hot to piss poor in recent weeks. The 2 Arsenal games illustrate this rather well. If we're going to have anything to show at the end of the season we need to cut out the crap performances like we've just witnessed v Wolves. Consistency is the key and we should be able to treat every opponent the same instead of blowing hot and cold.

Are we all that different from the majority of other teams in the premier league though? Using a term like 'spursy' invites ridicule IMO.

Consistency really is the key. It's better to be consistently good than the extremes we've showed recently.

Yes, we are that different.
5 of the top 6 sides (IE top 6 excluding us) have consistently won things in the PL era. Even at Arsenals worst they've won the FA Cup 3 times in the last half a dozen years.
Chelsea will go from outside the top 4 one season to winning it the next (probably not this season) and now it looks like the most irritating fan base in the country are about to get a whole new generation of self entitled bragging shits as fans. United will always be up for silverware and fuck knows what if they get a top coach next year (shuddering)
City will win everything in the coming seasons.

And then there's us. 28 years since we won a "significant" trophy and in that time it's significance has massively diminished.

Golden opportunity to add to a paltry 2 league titles when all the big teams are well off their games and we bottle it.

Spursy is a thing. It's a horrible horrible thing, but it's a thing.

You're mugging yourself off basically. I hate the term, but our own fans use it like legends. Just a term. Dunno who thinks they are scoring brownie points when they use it, they sound like a plank though tbh.

There's a mentality issue to a level but I'm afraid to say that there's a financing issue as well. Like it or not, Arsenal aside, the other clubs have seen heavy investment in the transfer market that aided that success.

Arsenal aside?
Ozil, Lacazatte, Aubameyang, Sanchez and a few others were big big signings for them and most bigger than our record by some distance.

Sure but Arsenal went a fair time without spending loads under Wenger.
