Hello, fellow yido's,

My brother and I are currently in Discussion's with a production company to start a spurs fans youtube channel. we are both season ticket holders, have had it for 7 years and have been going to Spurs for over 15 years. This is something we are extremely passionate and excited about starting but we wanted to get some input from you guys before we started shooting content and making video's. we are well aware of what Arsenal Fan TV is and how fan's perceive it, i can not make it any clearer that we do not want to be like Arsenal Fan TV. We want a channel that is authentic and one we can put our on stamp on, but we also want a channel spurs fans can be proud of.

So we have a decision to make, we want to be a voice and give a voice to Spurs but we are unsure if fan cams are the way to go with our fanbase. the reason is because we either go for the reactionary fans to get views or no one will watch our channel, as we saw with SpurredOn, its that simple really. but if we don't do fancams then how do we give a voice to other spurs fans who want to be heard and want their shared? that is our dilemma. we want to hear your opinions.

now i expect some push back to this, i understand that there will fans who are worried about turning our fan base into a laughing stock or something, but this will not deter us so i would ask to try and keep comments constructive as opposed to "don't bother" or "just don't" but obviously that's up to you guys. Any Content Suggestions or anything you guys particularly want to see are welcome.

Thank you for reading, looking forward to hearing your opinions.

You say you don't want to be like Arse fan TV but its not the show thats the issue it's the fans.

Fans are absolute dicks after a loss so you won't be able to avoid it. Unless you are "pre-match" fan tv then it will be much more constructive.

Have a section where you interview the same fan before a match and after it and point out the absurdity of their polarised views when things don't go to plan.

Pre match v Millwall - "The team is so together and playing well. We should stick 10 past these bastards the cup has our name on it"
Post Match v Millwall - "Poch has lost the dressing room, the players are a disgrace and I'm going on a murder spree"

Canned laughter.

Stuff like this is not good for a club or fan base imo

Arsenal Tv is a joke and that's how this would turn out if you choose to get reaction straight after games.

Literally would hate for our club to be associated with something like this

Hopefully I speak for most fans when I say this - please god don't let this happen.

AFTV is a laughing stock and the videos get banded about on social media for people to laugh at and then into whatsapp groups for people to mock Arsenal fans.

How different can you make it? Unless you're extremely vetting everyone before you interview them, all it takes is one idiot and we become a joke like Arsenal fans.

I understand Robbie (AFTV guy) is making good money from doing this (views and subscriptions etc) and perhaps that is your motivation and perhaps it is only a matter of time until all clubs do this but please think about the club and its fans first before selling your soul to the devil.

Best of luck with your venture. I don't think it's an inherently bad idea.

I think editing is vital. Arsenal Fan TV will allow a familiar face to repeat himself for 6 or 8 minutes, which is a big mistake. I have no problem with passionate fans but it's how they articulate themselves that is so important. If they are shouting like a coked-up Mafia don, then that is downright embarrassing. From what I have seen of Arsenal Fan TV, they are over-reliant on a few voices, which can make it quite repetitive.

Could you imagine if Spurs became a laughing stock? That would be terrible...

Go for it fella. Follow your own vision so your heart is in what you are doing. If it succeeds, well done. If it fails, who cares? No-one is watching anyway.

Most of the comments i've read so far seems to assume the worst.......People do know this isn't going to go out live right? Just because you stick a camera in someone's face doesn't mean it has to be published.

Have you thought about interviewing some of the match day thread regulars? :woot:

I'd be a bit choosy when picking 'victims'......Just go for anyone who is slurring their words, cannot walk in a straight line and is wearing Stone Island gear and you'll be fine, or that guy who posted that Levy rant on Facebook.........but seriously, good luck with it. I'm sure you'll find your feet as you go, there are sensible supporters out there, not everyone turns into an uncontrollabe rage baby after a defeat. oops sorry, shows 'passion' (guffaw)

Oh and maybe get fans views during the game or at half time? I'm not sure I seen that on ATV..........Probably a crap idea but there you go........I'm full of them bad boys :cautious:

The problem comes if you want to make it economically viable - as it will end up taking up a lot of your time. To get the amount of advertising needed it might have to veer towards being click-baity.

The other road is putting today sort of Spurs magazine show - getting people from forums like this to discuss topics that we talk about one here. Interesting content but might not get tonnes of views.

Im of the opinion that the reason that ArseFanTV is so popular is because of the views from opposition fans, I can't see many level headed Arsenal fans want to watch it, I watch it because it makes Arsenal fans look stupid, most of them are really angry and ranting a load of old bollocks, and it makes great entertainment for me as a Spurs fan as i dislike them more than other supporters.
The same for the West Ham one.

So really, the only way i can see a Spurs version being successful is to adopt the same approach and shove the camera in front of easily wound up idiots....the result would only be great to watch for opposition fans.
Just my opinion of course.

I anticipated that would happen, people look at Arsenal Fan TV and why it is successful and think that is the only way. well i don't believe that, which is why we are very strongly considering not doing fan cams at all (especially straight after matchs). the Issue with not doing them is that how can we claim to give fans a voice if we don't speak to them? maybe our goal does't need to be giving fans a voice? if that isn't our aim then what are we? we have many idea's for content and what we think people want would like to see, but fan cams is the biggest Issue we are debating.

Precisely.

Which is why you should start a YouTube channel for another team. :playful:

Arsenal Fan TV succeeds because there's a strong pool of disillusionment and division over the manager, with the pretty unique situation of a previously successful manager having outstayed his welcome by a decade. Plus the way the club is run - who is actually in control there? On top of that there's lots of divisive players who've been there ages and never fulfilled their potential - Walcott, Ramsey, Giroud etc. So every time they don't win all these frustrations some out again and there's no shortage of fans wanting to rant. And they've found a group of these who make the for the best TV, such as Claude, TY etc.

If you just interview normal, average Joes like Spurred On TV did, it's boring and you don't get enough views to make money. And it's even more boring if the club is doing well and no one is ranting. Next season might be a good time to start as I think the Wembley move will turn out badly but you have to find a group of fans who make for good TV. Whether or not the club benefits from a YouTube channel that features angry ranting fans is another matter, but I doubt that keeps Robbie from ATV up at night.
