Seems LVG dream may not be dead after all if these sources are to believed. I'd personally still take him if United look elsewhere.

In the related links at the bottom of the article.

Benitez, Allegri, Klopp.

So, none of them know then. Van Gaal would be another stop gap, albeit a very experienced one. Some of the journalists were discussing how he threw them out of a hotel in Amsterdam once, bags and all. Plus the behaviour at Bayern, pulling his trousers down and insisting players don't have their lunch before he does. Am I that clever, or are you that stupid? he told journos at a press conference.

Might be an amusing disaster for whichever club picks him, unless the results outweigh the craziness.

It's not just results that matter. It's how we play.

After reading the 'Sports Illustrated' article maybe Man.U. should take him?....and good luck to them. They did well with SAF, (whom LVG sounds like being).

The split personality of Van Gaal. The winner and leader of men versus the raving nutter. Success and disaster in almost equal measure. I wonder which one we'd get if he came to WHL? Hmmmmmmm!

I want Van Gaal but I don't think its going to happen.

My money is on Pochettino (literally) but can't say its one that excites me. Just feels like Ramos all over again.

He'd be right for them if he was 10 - 15 years younger, but they need somone to rebuild the squad from the bottom (i.e. youth team) up and it's going to be a multi-year project. History suggests that the new United Manager is unlikely to be there to see them reach the Promised Land.

Even though we've played badly for much of the season, we've still got every chance of getting 6th place in the PL. An experienced manager like LvG will see that and realise we offer him more chance of success than United.

He will follow the money I'm afraid. ('Nothing personal. It's just business'). We will be in a better place (sic) when we have the new ground and bigger revenues. If Sherwood has to go (it would be interesting to see fans' coping strategies if he doesn't), then someone polite, self-possessed, calm and intelligent who can play stylish football would be ideal. Martinez won't come, alas, he seems to have too much dignity to jump ship, and good on him. But if there was faint, absurdly distant shot of getting Ancelotti, that would seem attractive. But again, we may have to settle for Sherwood.

Except Pochettino has done it in the Prem.
I would take him in a heartbeat if it wasn't for a doubt about how he would handle the negativity that would follow a few bad results. I have seen Soton a fair bit, my son in law is a season ticket holder, and the job is simply an easier one.
Seriously talented manager tho.

I think after the AVB calamity and the TS Tragedy, we are all pinning our hopes on the next manager to be our "knight in shining armour". For me, Pochettino has done wonders at Soton, but I'm afraid he lacks Pedigree. We need a more experienced campaigner, someone who can turn our fortunes against the bigger teams like, heaven knows that's our weakness.

Pochettino is the most realistic option available to us. Everyone seems to think that we're entitled to some coach with 'pedigree' but lets be honest, what have we achieved recently that would really attract such a coach to the Lane? The top coaches go to the top clubs or clubs that they can see themselves realistically achieving something with.
We, with our recent illustrious record of managers and footballing achievement, cannot offer either of those things. As fans we'd do well to remember that we've only been in the CL once since its inception and consequently have no divine right to expect a manager with CL pedigree to rush to take over.
The more I think about it, the more I think Pochettino would fit in with us. He's worked under a demanding chairman before, is willing to promote the youth, has PL experience and most importantly has proven that he can make the best with what he has. As a selling club that's really as good as we're going to get. And who's to say he won't be successful with us? Harry Redknapp wasn't exactly a tactical genius but did well enough to get us in the CL and secure finishes of 4th 5th and 4th (not to mention orchestrating serious damage control following his take over). Let's not overestimate just where we stand and be realistic for a change shall we?

Top coaches don't go to a club who always sell they're best players.

I never wanted to hire LVG or Tim. The fact is we are so fickle we only want people who have won trophies. What we need is someone who understands being a manager without the ego which we seem to always end up with. Spurs seem to only hire managers who know how to talk. The fact is this is a job where the interview is done on the pitch and not the boardroom. Someone like Thomas Tuchel who has only had a limited squad to manage but has done a good job with it. This is a club that Klopp got relegated before he left it.
