Not to be a spoilt brat, but why the fuck couldn't this have been done before United?

Levy holidaying in Florida. There's time for that when the business is done.

So, neg rep away, but getting it done eventually is not as good as getting it done before the season starts no matter which way you cut it.
Everything isn't always Levy's fault. There is another team involved who want the best deal for their own club.

What always seems odd to me is the Levy doesn't seem to value points as much until the transfer window closes!

We always start the season short in one area or another before having a last minute attempt to get the position we need (if we are lucky).

Consequently we always miss out on possible points early on!

Then the window needs to shut before the first ball is kicked in the league!

Levy's priority as chairman of Tottenham Hotspur is Tottenham Hotspur the business rather than Tottenham Hotspur the football club. I don't dislike him as a chairman as he has made major improvements in terms of the new training ground and stadium which will bring long term benefits to the club as well as big £££s if the club is sold.

But in terms of team success on the pitch, saving a few quid in transfer fees by dealing late in the transfer window is evidently less of a gamble than going all out for a CL place which we have just missed out on in recent seasons by a handful of points. A bit shortsighted really.

Manu only finished 6 pts ahead of us last season. But how many points will we have dropped in the first few weeks of this season because we don't have our squad finalised before the window closes? United were there for the taking last weekend but we had nothing up front.

As the post above suggests, you cannot assume this is Levy's 'fault.' So many things come into play involving a whole chain of other clubs as well as agents, families and players' own preferences and genuine uncertainties. It's not a supermarket where you see what you want and just reach out and get it. And this also needs to take into account a player's maturity and ability to settle in new cultures and environments. Not trying to patronise here but there are many many shades of grey. People are complicated.

I can see your point, player transfers are never straightforward but year after year the first 12 points of the season don't really seem to matter to the board and management at our club.

Only we would spend $12m on a striker unproven in the PL when for an extra $3m will get us a proven one in Charlie Austin.

N'jie sounds like a good one for the future but if we want goals and a top-4 place Austin is the better option by far.

Both would be ideal.

On paper, I'd agree and I'm sure they would prefer to get everyone settled in before the season starts as well for obvious reasons. However, it's probably not that simple.

It's very likely that the management discussed the Austin option, but have decided against it otherwise more would have been heard. My guess would be that Austin is fairly similar to Kane, so they have decided to chase after a proven player who adds something different to the forward line, i.e. Berahino. Then after that we need an additional forward who is either at the end of their career or at the start to add some depth and other options, hence N'jie.

All of the above was dependent on Soldado and Ade leaving. Both of which have taken time in themselves.

Well we need him now !!!
Because it looks like bobby is gone

"
Erik Lamela has potentially let slip Roberto Soldado's departure from Tottenham Hotspur in a tweet that he quickly deleted.

Along with a picture of himself with Soldado, Lamela wrote: "I enjoyed these two years that we shared, I wish you well in your new club. Good luck my friend!" "

Otherwise if something happens to kane we'll have nobody ,well except Chadli to play up front

It's a bit like this. You go to the pub but have no money. So you ask the barman for tick, but he tells you to fuck off. Luckily someone offers to buy a broken spanish striker off you. So you do the deal then go back to the bar and buy yourself a pint.

Do you understand now?
