Calum Davenport has reportedly rejected the chance to move to Newcastle United Football Club.

The Magpies were keen to the sign the 24-year-old Tottenham Hotspur defender on loan for the rest of the season, yet the player has revealed he has no intention of leaving White Hart Lane.

"I'm 24 and want to establish myself as a Premiership player,” said Davenport. "An easy option sometimes is to look elsewhere but from my point of view, Tottenham are a massive club.

“They’ve brought me in on a five-year deal. When things don't go your way it's easy to jump ship but I've worked hard and I feel in recent weeks I'm getting the rewards for the last couple of years."

Good on you lad. He is classy but I think its BS.
The quotes seem to be from the earlier piece on him. Anyone?
  2. gilpinsgurgler
Yes, good on him, its good to see a player not just picking up his wages, but along with that wanting to work for his place.

you are right the quote is from a completly different article and whilst it is used in a similar context it is still taken away from the original manner and reasoning Calum said it in first place...anyways even if true why the hell would anyone want to go to the barcodes...mediocrity and / or serious injuries are the only things that come of a move there.

Would hate to see him leave but even more would hate to see him go there as I wouldn't wish that on anyone...gutted Carr you got what you deserved...muppet!

great attitude cal keep it going and you will get what you deserve

i think he's a good player getting better every time i see him. But...he wont get many games when the king is fit. Depends how long he can handle being on the bench.

King and dawson are injury prone, (dawson not so much this year but likes a card) so he wil get his chance, I personally cant see why Jol is offering him about, unless its lack of pace when ledley isnt playing

those quotes are nearly the same as the ones printed in sundays paper on a piece he did before the cardiff game, the headline is 'please dont let me go, Jol' i aint guna write the whole thing out but some of the quotes are as follows.

"Spurs are a big club and we get linked with a lot of players. It can unsettle some people - but not me"
"I believe in myself and what i can do. Hopefully, i can show that to the boss Martin Jol".
"The easy option may be to look elsewhere but ive a five year deal at one of the biggest clubs around".
"It'd be easy to jump ship but i'm going to stick in there. I feel i have started to get the rewards for working hard on the training pitch over the past couple of seasons".
"Once Ledley is back i will probably be out of the team but thats football and i will have to take it on the chin".

Looks like someone has been playing around with his earlier quotes and adding them to this story.

He's got a top top attitude imo and will serve us well, hope we keep him.

Got to admit I do like this guy and he has definately come on this season in my opinion.

Dont want him to leave in this transfer window would much rather Gardener go - dont rate him at all, Championship player at best. Sorry but he's never convinced me.

Anyone know much bout the Argie we've been linked with?
