As gutted as I am with the result, we have had some breath taking moments in the CL this year. Juve showcased their class and experience, shows the diffrence of having leaders and winners on the pitch makes.

The one criticism I have had of our recruitment has always been the lack of winners we ever go for. Perhaps we cant compete fee wise, I feel 1-2 players of Buffons/Chiellnis stature would make a significant diffrence.

I hope everyone avoids the media BS, the jealous rivals, we are having a great season. Win the FA cup and secure top 4 and it will be our best in decades.

Probably half a dozen times in my life I have woken up with this horrible feeling.

It's not nice but it ain't the end of the world.

Now all I got to worry about is health and bills to pay.

I have said it and will continue to. Kane's conversion rate is simply not good enough. Higuain has 1, ONE chance last night and buries it and it was no sitter. Kane didn't. As fantastic as he is and he IS, he needs to get that part of the game in order for us to really compete.

After they scored we should have shut up shop and let heads cool. Instead we charged but the boys' heads were gone. They on the other hand hit us with a lightening combo and hid behind a double guard.
If we learn from this we will be truly great in the near future.

So can I just confirm....Harry Kane should be scoring more goals? Is that what you're saying? Regardless of smashing records, outscoring world class players in the prem in the last 2-3 years, that's not good enough??!! He scores goals that aren't even chances for most players.

We played well, and were beaten by a seasoned European team. I'm proud of our boys and wouldn't point the finger at any of them.

Especially not Harry.

Pen to us not given (hardly mentioned by commentators)
Pen to them not given
Red card from dirty ****s missed (hardly mentioned by commentators)
Allegri got subs right, changed the game, Poch poor.
Davies switch off cost 2nd goal
Offside shot hit post and cleared by dirty **** player that shouldn't have been on pitch.

Fine margins.

More clinical in front of goal, cutting out shooting in foot lapses in defence or a competent ref and we'd probably be through.
What really should have had a MAHOOSIVE shit storm created was their first goal in the away leg that was clearly offside, again bang in front of the linesman, that has hardly been mentioned.
We just hear 'what a great finish.'
Kind of going off track here but....
If Spurs and Poch really wanna be up their with the big boys then we have to start acting like it and blowing your top after the game about these things.
Because 'we're lovely ole spurs they never make a fuss' nothing is ever made of such things.
The recent VAR fiasco, nothing said.
We get Arsenal, Man U and Liverpool either side of an away CL game! I mean what fkin twat sorted those fixtires? Again, nothing said.
These other big clubs would be spitting feathers.
I know some fans like Poch being Mr Nice but they need to realise there is a very good reason ALL the big succesful managers act the way they do and its not because they're not very nice.
Consider this, take the top 10 managers in Europe and look at how long its been since they were fined for being outspoken and then look back at the last Spurs manager to get fined. Who was it and when? I cant even remember one ever being done.
As you said, Fine Margins and kicking up a stink when required wins one of those. Otherwise we'll keep being shat on.

20 "fouls" committed by Spurs last night. Only 12 by Juve but our players had to be treated by physio 5 times. Juve physio didn't even have to get up off the bench. They're absolutely filthy and they do it in a way that it's off the ball and the referee isn't looking. If that prick had his eyes open Barzagli would have been off for that disgusting stamp on Son. Don't tell me it wasn't intentional. Son was giving him a new arsehole and he knew it.

We should have been playing against 10 for 45 minutes. Felt like 12 for a lot of the game.

Not smart to complain about the ref when they should have had a stone wall pen

Kane didn't lose us this tie. Our forwards scored 3 goals against supposedly the best defence in the world tm. Our lack of quality in the FB positions is what did it for me, I think we definitely need to relook at these positions.

Definitely. Like I said in the match thread, when teams pack the middle and force us to go to the flanks and more so our fullbacks for width, we are incredibly limited for what they can provide. In fairness to Trippier I still think he has a quality delivery, he just doesn't have the pace to get in behind. With Davies and Aurier, the two of them in particular, the moves can frequently break down when the ball comes out to them.

In fairness to Davies I think he's been much better than anyone would have thought this season, but I'd still like to see Rose given a run, even if I'm unsure if he's still the best long term option. I personally still don't think Poch has fully forgiven him for his outburst, it definitely feels like he's been shafted out a little bit.

There is no shame in losing to a great Juve side. Sir Alex Ferguson did not win the CL at his first couple of attempts and neither will Pochettino. The difference between these two teams was ultimately on the touchline, where Allegri out manoeuvred Pochettino with his experience, making subs and a formation change to win the game. Pochettino stood on the touchline observing and considering if a tactical response was necessary whilst Juve scored 2 goals in 3 minutes. On reflection Pochettino must question why we were chasing the game at 1-0 and 1-1, as it was Juve that needed to score and not us. Taking off one of the AMs, moving Davies inside to make a third CB, and introducing Rose on the left would have stopped our back 4 getting stretched so wide after the Juve changes. We would also then have had the plan B of taking off a defender and introducing Moura should the game need to be chased later on. I am old enough to remember Sir Alex's Man U side playing 4-4-2 in the CL in the mid 90's and blowing teams away until they met the Juves and Real Madrids in the latter stages where they ended up falling agonisingly short. SAF changed his tactics for big European games. He learnt the importance of not conceding at home. Pochettino would be well advised to pester one of his heroes for another supper meeting and be ready to take the next step in his managerial education. On the whole this was a great experience for us and Pochettino and we have progressed further, and can still win the FA Cup and finish in the top 4 and move into the new stadium on the back of a very successful season. COYS!

Gotcha

I really think we fucked up tonight. Very proud etc, we played some lovely stuff at times but I really think the ‘experience’ stuff is being well overplayed

It wasn’t their nous and experience that saw our strikers whack wide when clean through or Kane’s header hit the post.

It’s so disheartening that this narrative can now play out as it’s not what I watched. It’s vexing me. I am vexed

Thinking about it the post I was responding to was orignally in a thread about us having no winners. It got moved here so understandable you'd think I was specifically talking about Juventus.

Maybe I’m a defeatist or I’m just missing something. We’ve been sensational in the Champions League. We walked the hardest group to come top and largely outplayed one of the toughest most experienced and successful teams in the World.

Sorry but today I’m celebrating the fact that we have now become one of the most respected teams in Europe. That’s the here and now, not tomorrow.

Thanks Poch & the team.

As others have said, we need to put last night's disappointment behind us and go and win the FAC. However unless we learn to be more clinical/ruthless, winning trophies will be very difficult.

I cant stop thinking about that moment between Buffon and Chiellini after yet another great clearance.

The amount of passion, intensity and sheer willpower to win was incredible to see. They seemed like it always almost fate that they would battle through and get the result.

It was a fantastic lesson for our players and coach and i hope they learn from it. We have grown so much in the past couple of years, but Juventus showed us up for our lack of experience at the very highest level.

In Italy defending is seen as an art on par with attacking. It just isn't in England. Which is why you get the champions with Otamendi, Walker and John Stones somehow in defence.

Feel numb with pain that Kane header was agony but they are wily old fox Juve a masterclass in tactics but 5/10 minutes of madness see us bow out still lots of pride in our run it's the false dawn of the first half and start of the 2nd which made me believe.

Season far from over but at this moment it just feels it like it. Psychologically wonder where we will be now but god please don't go dismantling this team in the summer best I've ever known but big players with no trophies there is usually only one one outcome Levy it may well be time to play hardball again e.g. Bale
Not reaching the qtr finals and being first English club knocked out, and if we don’t get top 4 to get in CL next year. It may not be us “dismantling” the club we need to worry about!

Absolutely balls out to win the FA Cup now. Potentially the best chance we've had in years. Worst case scenario we have to beat Swansea/United/Chelsea. Not impossible. That first trophy really be a kick in the dick to all these shit journalists and fans who claim we are still shit because we haven't won anything.

Despite losing last night, mainly through experience, we will be stronger for it as this group has shown in the last few years.

The reason we lost was that cannyness they had which you only get from being there over and over again. This time next year we don't concede two early goals away and we don't capitulate after a substitution.

I actually thought we were a bit flat last night. I know we were playing Juve, and a much better Juve than the first leg, but we seemed really static in the second half. Lamela was the obvious sub but I wonder if Lucas could've created something out of nothing... which was what was needed to break down the yellow wall. The change in Juve when the second goal went on was incredible. Real shame we couldn't get the ball to Kane more, our service into him wasn't the best.

Even though we're out (relatively early) in the last 16, I know there aren't 15 teams better than us. These fixtures against Juve, Real and Dortmund will go down in our history ... so much more memorable than last year's matches against Monaco, Moscow and Leverkusen. This year was what it's all about. COYS
