Sorry but I just do not agree with this 'Juventus showed their experience' crap.
Watch the match. I watched highlights again today.
They were shit lucky not to be 3 or 4 nil down before they scored.
Even after they went in front it wasn't an "old boy masterclass in defending.' They were getting battered again and got through by the skin of their teeth.
Games of this level are decided by fine margins.
It wasn't some tactical masterplan by Juventus.
The best team lost.
It happens.
This is how Barcelona and Bayern Munich felt against Chelsea when they won it.
Was that a Masterclass of experience from Chelsea? Was it fk. They were shit lucky. End of.
And some of the shit our so called fans are coming out with, well they can fkin do one as well. Clueless twats.

I am a fairly normal level headed guy, but your response is unbelievable. So scoring goals and smashing records '''wins us jack shit'? Scoring goals wins us football matches. You are aware of that? And he has won us, through scoring goals, so many matches.

As you say 102 goals. How many of them goals would other strikers score? Hardly any is the answer. I honestly cannot believe you're questioning his conversion rate. Since you mention the mighty Higuain and his conversion rate being better last night, would you rather him than Kane? Do you think he'd have scored as many as Kane in the same amount of premier league games?

Also you say he's missed 'a massive 65 big chances'. So you expect him to have scored 167 premier league goals do you?

I'm really trying to respect your opinion that you're entitled to. But it's actually ridiculous.

Harry Kane will go down as a legendary Spurs striker. I cannot believe we have a player of his caliber. Honestly I can't. I guess for you though he'll be a player who missed too many big chances and should score every opportunity.

I actually laughed out loud when I read the 167 goals comment!

Spot on.

...what we lack in match savvy, we have to make up in effort and focus...
...Poch had to see that we were tired and make subs in time to win the tie...

its definitely experience. anybody can bury their chance against west brom with a two goal lead. doing it in the knockout stages of the CL facing elimination is entirely different. their players had ice water in their veins because they've done it time and time again. it was kind of impressive to watch to be honest.

After watching the two legs if I was Liverpool or City id be very confident if they got Juve in next round. We made them look old and they couldn't cope with our pace and intensity. Liverpool and City have even more pace and will rip them to pieces over two legs. They stole that tie from us as that's what successful sides do but along with Madrid and Barca they're a shadow of what they used to be. English team has a massive chance of winning the CL, really hope it's not Liverpool or Utd.

It won’t be Liverpool or United. City are the only ones who can win it.

Barca aren’t a shadow of what they were, neither are Real to be honest. They might not have yet hit the heights of recent past, but it’s still there. Barca coasted at Chelsea, Real absolutely coasted in the group stage. These sort of teams don’t start playing until when it matters. Liverpool and United will probably be the two worst sides in the last 8.

City have a real chance.

Fascinating para from Poch’s book that takes on a different light post Juve game

“A topic that the Spurs coaching group discuss nowadays and that worries us is the fact that footballers sometimes lack those ‘basic concepts’. We have extraordinary methodology and preparation, so players are well drilled when it comes to tactics. But as for those ‘basic concepts’, those things that help you be better on the pitch, not so much. I am talking about how to take advantage of situations, how to unsettle someone, how to use non-footballing weapons to beat your opponent, how to utilise your intelligence, how to be smart. They’re gradually getting lost. They’ve stopped being transmitted from generation to generation, from old to young. Even coaches have forgotten how to pass down that knowledge.”

Until they scored we were all over them.
What are you on about?
They made subs and scored almost immediately .
Its easy to come put with comments like that after the event.
If Poch had made a sub and then they'd scored anyway you'd be saying wtf did he do that for.

Are BT taking the piss? I have received an e-mail from them entitled "Can the old lady go all the way". The body of the email says "see Dybala's heartbreaker from every angle" and then in the email are 3 gifs of the goal in various angles. And that's it. Bunch of wankers.

Was it? They didn't impress me once in 180 minutes. Absolutely gutted to go out to them because we are a better team than them with better footballers.

I'd rather have got trounced by City or Barca then go out like that.

We are a better team than Juventus. Just look at the way they celebrated. No "elite" european team shows that kind of emotion for a round of 16 tie. They got through by the skin of their teeth and managed to pull their Italian experience out of their arses.

This was a gutting but much needed lesson. I hope these players are patient though because we keep chipping through the ceiling but can't quite crack through just yet.

To be honest, I have not seen such a linear and gradual incremental improvement of a team as what we are currently witnessing with this Spurs side. We are literally watching these kids grow up and learn before our eyes. I remember Poch's first season where everyone was 20/21 years old besides a few others. Think about each year since and the improvements collectively and individually. Eriksen has gone from a clever but tippy tappy weakling into a metronomic workhorse with the best mid-long range crosses since Beckham. Vertonghen has gone from a silky but sulky CB into an absolute stalwart. Dembele is now recognized as a the world class CM he was always meant to be. Dele is no longer trying to nutmeg every player in the pitch but actively involved in our possession play and has a touch of genius regarding through balls. Son has gone from an erratic bumbler into one of the most threatening direct players since CR7 at United. I could go on and on.
They are now all 25 or so and have 3/4 more seasons to make that final step.

I believe in Poch 100 percent to keep this fairytale going, and he is still learning to. We will finally reach that pot of gold, of that I'm sure. We just cannot give up.

The future is bright and lily white.

Wish people would stop talking about learning curves. We've had so many learning curves we might as well just be going round in circles.

I'm positive about where the club is going and what we are trying to achieve but just once I'd love for us to not actually learn the lesson but give the shitting lesson

It’s only this teams 2nd season in the CL so I’d say it’s a learning curve. We improved hugely vs last season in th CL, if we take that level of learning and improvement next season if we r in it we should reach around the semis if we get a good draw

Too many listen to so called pundits.

If we had won we'd be lauded as the Spurs team that had grown up (just like we were after topping the group and drawing in Turin). The difference? An inch. That's all it would have taken for the ball to go over the line and take us into extra time, and then who knows?

If it was because we lacked the experience and mentality to fight we'd have lost in both Madrid and Turin, not held top sides to a draw on their home turf, but nobody thinks about that.

That's not the point though. This team has also finished 3rd and 2nd in the last 2 seasons and lost an FA cup semi final we pretty much should have won last season. They were all classed as learning curves as well.

My point is how many of these learning curves are they going to need?

We hear almost on the daily at this stage that our players want the big money and want to win trophies. I've yet to see evidence that any of them are up to the task of earning that money or winning that trophy when it's come to the crunch of big games. Is that because they have to go on another learning curve? Is it fuck. They're good enough to do it. No more lessons. No more learning curves. Get the job done and prove that you're worth the money you say you are. Strap on a pair and do the job.

Saying it was lack of experience seems to imply that are players didn't know what they are supposed to be doing. I don't think being older makes you unable to manage games. We didn't take our chances and didn't react to their substitutions not unlike the defeat to Chelsea in the FA cup.
