Will be going to Wembley tomorrow, first game this season...a very, very tricky tie, and it would be no big shock if we lost...but I'm hopeful we can bring our A game and put that defence of theirs under severe pressure. You never know...

I think it mostly depends on what we do without the ball.

Whether we are looking to push higher up the pitch and press, or sitting deep behind the ball and playing on the counter (as we did last season), it's got to be done as a collective and everyone pulling their weight (plus a sensible shape/formation to reflect the tactics).

If we get what we've largely got so far this season... Too open between the lines, poor pressing as both a team and individuals, allowing the opposition far too much easy space to exploit and then eventually give up numerous chances... Then it wont be a pleasant watch at all I suspect. This game we need to have a really strong team performance and arrive into the new season.
I get what your saying but we have not really pressed well as a team for a long time even last season can't remember any real team press it was similar to what we have seen so far.

Do you have Lloris stats there too? Against a strong Liverpool side we need our best side out. Vorm weakens that considerably. Who were the Vorm clean sheets against incidentally ? I do not fancy this game at all !! Worcestershire v Lancs T20 for me tmrw.

No-one is arguing that Vorm is better than Hugo
or that Gazzaniga might well be better than Vorm
but Sir you are in denial yet again.
Vorm does not concede every time.
as you asserted.
Twice
Fact.
Another fact,
Hugo is not available through injury.

True, but on top of that so far this season I think the formation change to 3-5-2 hasn't helped - knock on effects to it have left us more open/less compact, harder to press teams, and coughing up more chances.

I think people need reminding that we have won 3 of 4 and won this fixture 4-1 last season and outplayed them in both games.

Don't necessarily agree that we outplayed them in the second game last year.

People also need reminding that those results was last year and has no bearing on tomorrow, plus first half at anfield last year we was lucky to still be in the game by half time.

This game will foreshadow the remainder of our season and if we play like we did against Watford we are going to get spanked

Also reminded that if it wasn't for a very rare penalty miss by Kane, we'd have left with all 3 points.

Though I think we fully deserved our draw last year and don't think there would have been too many complaints had Kane scored the first pen and we won. Can't remember too many teams going to Anfield and controlling the game in such a way that we ended up doing. Anyway, at Anfield it is always a different game and I ultimately fully agree, last seasons games have little if any bearing over tomorrow's game

I don't see how, Liverpool only had one shot on target which was the goal and the rest were half chances?

No one seriously thinks Vorm is a better GK than Lloris, but you posted twice that he never keeps clean sheets, which was bullshit the first time and you were politely corrected. So why post bullshit the second time, unless you want a less polite correction?

Very true mate I forgot that yes we could and should of won but again we let ourselves down at the other end allowing salah to score too easily.

They aren't comparable. Against Watford, we strolled about for most of an hour, making pretty patterns against a drilled defence and waiting for the goals to come. When Watford realised they were still in it, they spent 10 minutes bullying us and scored twice, then retreated into a defensive shell again.

Tomorrow's match will be nothing like that. Liverpool's defence is better than last season, but they won't play 10-11 behind the ball at any point, probably not even if they're protecting a 1-goal lead with 5 minutes left. It's not Klopp's style. We need to pass and move as we did against Watford, because we'll have more room. Liverpool don't have the muscle to bully us physically - we're the bigger, more powerful team, overall. But they have the pace to get behind our defence, so we have to be careful and selective with the high line and the pressing.

The matches just aren't comparable. If we attack with the urgency and abandon we needed against Watford, Mané and Firmino will have a field day.
