Serious question- I'm not well-versed in this stuff: are we a rarity in that you never know what our formation is/will be? Like, some are saying "Oh 5-3-2, Died as 3rd CB," whereas others are suggesting "Oh, diamond midfield (which would then be 4-4-2, right?)" whilst still others are saying "Wow- 4-3-3." Contrast this to Liverpool, who simply play 4-3-3, period.

My point is don't most teams simply play what they play and that's it? Whereas we're always chopping/changing/altering/tweaking, never playing the same formation two weeks in a row (or so it seems). Are we abnormal in doing this?

Also- aren't we 100% 4-3-3 today? I hardly see Deer as "3rd CB"- I mean why do that when we have a 3rd CB?!? To me, it's:

Vorm

Tripps Alderweireld Verts Rose

Winks Dier Dembele

Eriksen Kane Lucas

Am I wrong? Does anyone actually have a clue? I wish along with the lineups they told us what formation we were meant to be playing.

We are at home . Wembley has been good for us. Its time the boys laid off with the excuses. WC or no WC the season is here and they need to perform. I expect a cracker of a game. Look out for HK. I think he has this one.

Loving Winksy back. He's one of our own

Good team I think. We can boss the midfield again. Like last season.

I don't understand why we don't give Gazzaninga (sp?) a game or two. Looked good when Hugo and Vorm were both out.

That game was possibly the best he's ever had in his career (and even then his first actions were to get stranded in no man's land and almost give away a goal/red card and penalty, how different it could have been...). In fact it is much the statistical anomaly - when he joined us the consensus/opinion from those who had seen him was that he was barely up to it when playing regular games at Soton and in Spain.

He was clearly brought in very much as No.3 backup - Poch knows him, he seems a nice lad and good pro who knows the score and wont complain about his role, he can provide decent quality competition and assistance in training every day..... That he came in for an odd game and had a solid display I think is seen as very much an unexpected bonus.

We're gonna chop and change like we always do when we play a back 4, Dier will sit in between the 2cb's when we have possession and we'll continually change shape when the match progresses.

No idea why people get ao hung up on a rigid formation when in reality we will chop and change like we always do.

Fuck me Sky's coverage is an absolute joke.

They spent about 35 minutes on Liverpool, including a proper interview with 2 players. They've spent 10 minutes on us with 5 taken up videoing 4 players taking putts at the training ground. And now back to Liverpool

I get that- we chop and change. I'm only asking because it seems like other top teams have their set formation- i.e., what they play- whilst we are always left guessing. Is today 4-3-3 in your estimation- or 5-3-2?

I’ve been sick the whole weekend and has been in hospital so this is the first big game in a while I haven’t felt anything. I’m not nervous, confident, optimistic, pessimistic, excited. No feelings, feels weird
Hope we win though obviously COYS
hope you’re feeling better mate

Feck off Souness, we don't just rely on Kane for goals you bellend. Our AMS have consistently added to the goals tally, at one point being the highest scorers in Europe if I'm not mistaken.

What the feck does he think Moura's been doing.

Knob of the weekend award duly granted.
