We were second best team today and we were lucky not to lose by a higher score. Vorm was absolutewlky crap yet again, hope he gets demoted t our third keeper choice. Harry Kane was yet again crap. The only player who performed well again is Moura. Title contenders, not a chance in a million years.

Mouras miss was big though...

Poor display but could have been so much better. As always we started as though just woken up from a short nap.

However we settled into the game and were showing some control of midfield in a hard fought game. We moved the ball quckly and there was plenty of movement from the plLayers too. We did tcreate more problems than Liverpool with a litany of crazy errors and in the end a dreadful attempt at a back pass header led to the corner and goal.

The second goal was similar when we turned possession over to them and concede what looked from where I sat as another comedy of errors.

Not sure what a coach can do when players make such school kid mistakes as we do and yet for most of the game are at least solid.

Liverpool were far from world beaters and the game was swung completely on our mistakes. At two nil up the opposition could then play on the counter and looked far more dangerous than at any time before.

Once again we shot ourselves in the foot. So frustrating as this was a very winnable game

The game was not in any way winnable - Liverpool are on a completely different level to us all over the pitch and should have won by 4 or 5 were it not for profligate finishing.

Our team is not young any more - all of our team are significantly older and very inferior to their Liverpool counterparts.

Our chance to win things was in the Leicester season and the one that followed.

The squad is mediocre now with dross like Winks and Dier starting in CM.

We've got a battle on for 4th place year but even if it we make it I expect us to go backwards.

Think this is our last year with both Poch and Eriksen.

He is now making an assumption that Mane played the ball, you should not make decisions base on assumptions.
Except they gave a goal kick - so how the fuck does Mane play the ball without giving up a corner?

We were absolute shite today but Oliver was a disgrace.

I think we'll settle down now. Lamela and son will start the next game and will get us back up and running with some much needed energy and aggression. Coys.

Complete overreaction as per usual.

This made me laugh but then I realised you were serious I would say Mr klopps team have improved they could and should have won with a greater margin.
The team is crying out for new blood and this decision not to invest was a piss poor one that I hope bites levy on the arse, early exit from CL and no top four finish this year might make him think.

Fair enough. Who exactly are you going to sign and replace if you were given the choice? Is it depth? What is the weak link in our side. I agree we need more depth. But our first 11?

Because of the lack of depth and the quality of our first 11 (being where they were in the summer) we are tired and not sharp enough.

Our two most direct competitors improved massively in Chelsea and Liverpool. How do you not see that?!

Chelsea ? How have they improved? The manager? Ok let’s sach Poch and get in David Moyes.

Liverpool have improved - agreed. But not United, Chelsea or Arsenal. City have only signed one player Mahrez. We need about 3 or 4 fifty million pound players if we really want to challenge for the title. We are not there yet. Our most expensive player is Davinson Sanchez for 40 mil. Followed by sissoko for 35. Our business and footballing model is not the blank cheque book approach. And it’s remarkable that you think otherwise.

Financially we are an upper middle class club reaching where we are through astute business and footballing leadership. It is inevitable that our star players will move on until we are in a position to do an Arsenal. Buy the big time players after our mortgage has been paid off. How can you not see that?

The storm isn't on the horizon anymore. It's here, and it's gonna wreak some havoc.

Yes, we played poorly and without much vim, and Liverpool right now are very difficult to play against with how they are so quick to shut down space. The ref also didn't help matters.

But I think we a few systemic issues that will plague us for the entirety of this season... it'll be the difference between us finishing 3rd and 6th by mid-May. The fact is, Pool, City and Chelsea will be the top 3. Chelsea rebuilt in an area of their team, where we needed the most help: Midfield. And in a strange way, that will likely be the reason why Chelsea will finish above us.

First issue, is the staleness of the players and coaching. The team have played below average all season. The players seem jaded, unfocused and indifferent. This manifests on the field as sloppiness, indecision, and apathy. It's very hard to shake this out of a team, and it would seem that the coaching staff are at odds on how to achieve this. Once the players stop responding to what the manager wants on the field, you have a big problem on your hands.

Secondly, it really was a colossal mistake to not - at the very least - reinforce the team in midfield during the TW. It's so clear to see when you look at our direct competitors that the major difference between the way they are able to control the middle of the park. We simply do not have the players to match up well with them. We're too slow, unskilled and one-dimensional in this area. I feel we only really have one midfielder who can compete at that level right now, and that's Winks. The others (Dier, Wanyama, Dembele, Sissoko) all are deficient in significant areas, whether it be pace, decision making, skill and passing ability. Until we fix this issue and improve in this area, I can't see us competing for the title.

Thirdly, Pochetino is losing a little bit of his mystique and control of the team. It's clear the players aren't always responding to what he wants. There's a massive gulf between what he thinks we are capable of out on the field, and what the players are actually able to produce. Or for that matter, willing to consistently emulate out there. He also far too inflexible when it comes to over-trusting a sub set of players, that he sees as his surrogates on the field: (Harry, Dier, Eriksen, Alli, Lloris and Verts). They have become complacent and at times, lazy. By putting all of his eggs in this basket, Poch is holding the team back. He demonstrates ruthlessness all the time... but seemingly not for the players he trusts the most. He needs to be daring, and go back to what he did when he first came to the club... play the players that are willing to carry out your strategy and tactics on the field, or die trying. His inner circle of Pochette's simply aren't living up to what he thinks they are capable of. Time for some tough love and a come-to-jesus with a few of his supposed super-stars.

These are all rather difficult problems to fix. And perhaps we will see some adjustment over the season. But that's ok. I'm at peace with us having a slightly 'down' season, as it'll force us to make some hard decisions about our long-term future. I truly won't be surprised if we see at least 10 players depart between now and the end of the summer TW next year. And in turn, refresh our squad between now and then with five or six bodies that can complete for the starting XI. As it's very clear to see that we need to freshen up in a few different areas, and sometimes it requires a crisis to trigger momentum toward change.

Think we needed 3/4 to have come in pace being an option with a Kane alternative to give him a break for a while plus some quality in midfield, as the options we have are too basic and stifle the limited creativity that we have.
I agree with our current financial position but again to be fair by the time we get that paid off someone like palace, wolves or Everton will be in front of us by then and it's back to rinse and repeat, the club needs backing from ambitious owners who want glory not the best bank account.

Of course not but then I would like us to be like city,Chelsea and Liverpool and be title contenders but that will never happen so like I said previously I think fourth is the summit of our ambition under these owners sadly.
I'd suggest third or forth is about the level this current squad is good for. No idea about the owners, to be honest I am tired of reading about them every time Spurs do something either of a positive or a negative nature.

Thank fuck we're all here for the football.

Well like you mate I'm not chief scout but when we can't even bring in a championship player after trying to be clever and cheap about it I would say that is a sorry state of affairs for a club that finished 3rd piss fucking poor.
