Who was good enough that was gettable?

Literally dozens of players. Dier in his role today, is barely premier league level. He’s potentially a top class centre half and a decent holding midfielder. He’s never ever ever ever a central midfielder as he was today.

I’d take 20 players in his position today from the prem alone over him.

Doucore at Watford is 10x better than him and better than this current version of Dembele for example

Yes. It’s not that Liverpool are suddenly Brazil 70 like some nutters are suggesting. They won’t finish within ten points of the champions.
I actually think they will be close to it come the end but yes I get your point however we won't be within ten points of Liverpool imo and that is pretty sad considering our record against theirs over the last 10 years.

But we would and never had any intention of getting anyone not even a championship player in grealish so this was all a non starter.

You know what today reminded me of. The first champions league games at Wembley against Monaco and Leverkusen. Sloppy and slow with a bit of cluelessness thrown in the mix.

Zero direction in our play, been evident since the start of the season. Only so often you can wing it with a touch of brilliance/luck thrown in to keep winning football matches.

other than the second half of United we've been in 3rd gear since the start of the season. I dont know why things aren't clicking but they will.

Liverpool aren’t anything special at all.
Our team from last season would have won that game today

Thats nonsense. I hate Liverscum more than anyone, you just need to read my posts to understand my dislike and disdain for them. However; they are damn good and the one weakness they had which was their defence they sorted it out and are resolute and strong. Theyre winning without being at full pelt. Theyre winning without playing all too well yet dispatched us today with ease. Are they special? No team is special until they win a fair few things ala Manure under Fergie.

Liverscum have strengthened year on year and now theyre reaping the benefits. They knew what they wanted and they got out and got them. Us on the other hand? We went for Moussa fucking Sissoko and well Jack Grealish and didnt even fucking get him.

Make no mistake about it, this could have been six or seven

Literally dozens of players but you name just one. Doucoure. Were you calling for us to sign Doucoure at the start of the window?

I'm not defending out Window here. I'm genuinely curious as to who we could have signed that would ABSOLUTELY improve us and was gettable. Liverpool already had Keita and Fabinho. Do we miss out on Jorginho? He looks quality. Even Chelsea couldn't sign Kovaciv.

This again lol...this always crops up and no-one can ever think of players which tells you how difficult it probably was to get players in.

Sari who went to Fulham was certainly good enough and gettable.

Seri? That may be a good call but the fact he went to Fulham and no "big" team was in for him shows where he lies in the picking order. Not saying it's a bad call - but it's not like he was the signing that would have stilled the restless hordes?

Early days yet but Liverpool, pains me to say, appear very much to be a level above us now. We have three very winnable games up next in the Premier League but something ain't right.... I just hope it's that we missed Hugo and Dele a lot.... ??

Still, after a few hours, still struggling to see why the fuck Pochettino thought it would be a good idea to put Winks and Dier either side of Dembele in a midfield 3. Who’ve never played together in that system before!
With a back 4 behind them. Against Liverpool!! A crazy decision. It made absolutely no sense. It’s actually staggering. It’s a decision so bad you have to start questioning Poch. It’s not in hindsight either as soon as I saw how we lined up I knew we would struggle. And we did. Badly.
Not sure if Poch is trying to be smart or what, but his continually changing systems/players all the time cannot be helping the team. We haven’t played well at all this season and if not for Lucas and an open goal miss from Lukaku we wouldn’t have beaten United(our best result). We struggled against both Newcastle and Fulham. Dog shit against Watford. Shitter today.
We need to get back to a way of playing with a formation and stick to it the majority of the time. Whether 4-2-3-1 or 3-4-2-1(I prefer 3-4-2-1).
That today was embarrassing. Couldn't create anything. Couldn’t pass. Couldn’t defend. No energy. Our players looked like they were running through treacle. We could and should have lost by a cricket score.
Something just doesn’t seem right in the camp.
Hopefully this is all just a blip and we’ll get back to our best again soon, but at present there are very worrying signs. Anyway...COYS

Yeah... Halfway through the window I was lookign around and wondering who on earth we could get that would makeme go "yeah, he'll improve us".

Liverpool had already signed Keita. Chelsea got Jorginho. United wouldn't sell Martial. It was hard.
