For me we look very leggy, too often we weren't quick to the 50/50 balls, we played into their hands at times with their three up front, and our system required our full backs to provide the width that was needed to stretch them.
We haven't been great this season in many matches, many of our players look a shadow of former self. We were unlucky not to get the penalty but we deserved nothing.

Should have gone balls deep for kovacic

Just never going to happen. He's Modric replacement. Chelsea have him on loan - they're being used as a training post for Real's next big thing. How the fuck were we supposed to sign him?

4-2-3-1

Lloris
Trippier Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
Eriksen Wanyama
Lamela Dele Lucas
Kane

Eriksen has been poor dropping deep and not the answer there and Lucas is a right sided midfielder mr fantasy football lol.

This whole season is going to be balls, full of frustration, and let downs.

They had ten shots on target - away- to our three. A fair result would have been a battering. The score flattered us.
That is a terrible and embarrassing stat and shows how they have leapt forward while we go backwards and now I look forward to our CL campaign for the short time that lasts.

Throw 65m at it

DO you not think Chelsea would have done so?

He was not "gettable". That's just fact. Annoying. But fact.

And for people like @gerishep who seems to be going through my posts and neg-repping them, I am NOT defending our TW policy. Just asking a question which seems very difficult to answer. If you can answer the question fine - please do so. I'm as eager to improve our squad as anyone.

Literally dozens of players but you name just one. Doucoure. Were you calling for us to sign Doucoure at the start of the window?

I'm not defending out Window here. I'm genuinely curious as to who we could have signed that would ABSOLUTELY improve us and was gettable. Liverpool already had Keita and Fabinho. Do we miss out on Jorginho? He looks quality. Even Chelsea couldn't sign Kovaciv.

Improve that midfield today?
Doucoure, Cook, Grealish, Shelvey...that’s the level I’m dropping to to improve that absolute shower of shit I watched today. JonJo Shelvey is a much better central midfielder than Eric Dier.

Dier is potentially a top centre half. He’s a decent holding midfielder. He’s a shit central midfielder.

Chuck in Dembele being finished and we have real issues.

Thats nonsense. I hate Liverscum more than anyone, you just need to read my posts to understand my dislike and disdain for them. However; they are damn good and the one weakness they had which was their defence they sorted it out and are resolute and strong. Theyre winning without being at full pelt. Theyre winning without playing all too well yet dispatched us today with ease. Are they special? No team is special until they win a fair few things ala Manure under Fergie.

Liverscum have strengthened year on year and now theyre reaping the benefits. They knew what they wanted and they got out and got them. Us on the other hand? We went for Moussa fucking Sissoko and well Jack Grealish and didnt even fucking get him.

Make no mistake about it, this could have been six or seven

Waffle. They’ve progressed no doubt, but we’ve regressed absolutely. Our side from last season in the same fixture wins that game today.

We smashed them last term and completely outplayed them at Anfield too.

Today was pathetic from us. We don’t have a midfield to speak of and Poch fucked it up formation wise too. Our lack of movement in the market has seen us go backwards.

Liverpool won’t come close to winning the league. Not special by a long way

I actually think they will be close to it come the end but yes I get your point however we won't be within ten points of Liverpool imo and that is pretty sad considering our record against theirs over the last 10 years.

Probably true.
We have regressed though. We keep going at this rate and top 6 will be the dream

Why stop at last seasons team? Lets go back to our 1960s team shall we. Unfortunately football isnt played between teams in different seasons. Yes we have regressed but they have progressed - theyre a far better team than what they were this time last year.

I agree with you theyre nothing special, and no one is saying they are, but theyre on a journey and there is progress to get there - we are regressing and further away than last season and season before that. When you stand still you tend to go backwards, we did that this summer in the window and that appears to be down to Levy.

I do think this defeat will spur us into action. I think they players will watch that again and will feel angry with themselves - theyll have a 'heart to heart' and think we will see a rapid improvement - look at Manure this season as an example. We just need to get back to basics really. Lloris is and was a big big miss because I doubt they would have scored the goals they did all ifs and buts etc

I take it that this isn't for Milan on Tuesday! Eriksen in midfield will mean zero protection for the defence and Kane needs to go on the bench for Son. I'd drop Eriksen for now, have Alli playing as a false 9 and have a Winks/Wanyama midfield. Dembélé can come in later to shore up.
