Poch has seriously got to stop being stubborn with Toby and get him back in the team, Sanchez clearly needs a rest... as for Trippier against Sane again - he didn't watch the game at Etihad I suppose...

sane didn't get much out of trippier at all, why do you think pep took him off?

Willfully getting on the ball, snapping at heels defensively, and pushing the team back forward. He’s far from perfect but criminally underrated by many fans.

I'm not saying that he's underrated or overrated just wondering why people think it was such a bad sub taking him off. Personally I didn't see him doing anything in the final 3rd that suggested he was gonna do something in this match.

Not our day. Wouldn't blame decisions that went against us.
Just wanted to say Davies on Kompany was not 'naughty'. He pulled his leg back when contact was made, it's so clear. Comparisons with Alonso's on Long were idiotic.
Hugo got away with more than just the penalty (which wasn't one). I am sure our coaches are looking into it.

I don't like them at all...well their fans really.

But disagree, Tottenham glasses off and neatly put away...gotta say pool are better nearly all round bar a few areas

It’s mightily close, personally I believe we are the better team all around. They definitely have a better attack though.

Just before he was taken off, he was a key part of two productive attacking moves. They were the last ones of the game for us.

(Edit) until Moura came on

Poch didn't learn from the last meeting with City.

Considering we have Brighton on Tuesday and then the FA Cup we should have played it conservatively and looked to counter. Should have packed the fuck out of the midfield and started Son for an outlet when they turn over the ball. For me that was the only logical ploy.

Playing on the counter is not parking the bus and abandoning all principles, hindsight is a wonderful thing but on reflection I think that's how he should have approached it given the circumstances.

Poch should have listened to the pros...

I would just like to add that I hate this new KO time. I'd rather lose that game at 12:30 take a couple of hours sulking and find something else to do to forget about it.

How I dislike Manchester Titty. And that Tit Mierdaiola, that mama's boy. Dislike him too. And Kyleene Stalker, and InSane, all of them. But who really gets to me is that ... that ... gentleman ... Mr. Moss. His fattyness and uglyness is only surpassed by his blissful lack of interaction between any two braincells at any given time.

I think Sane's a fantastic player (not at his best today), can't understand how anyone can dislike him.

I agree it would have been the right tactical choice under the circumstances. While Liverpool have had the most success out of anyone against City by pressing them relentlessly, if we weren't capable of it due to fatigue, Kane not being fully fit, or because we needed to conserve energy with the most important match of the season being a week away with a league match in between then we really ought to have set up on the counter.

It just feels like Poch can't bring himself to do it against Guardiola. He wasn't too proud to play on the counter during the group stage of the CL, or in the match against Liverpool at Wembley, but he's never so much as attempted it against Pep even when it has made sense to in context. Like he's got a blind spot due to the Barcelona-Espanyol dynamic or something.

Out classed by city tonight.

But that's all our toughest fixtures done.

Let's focus on a strong finish to our season.

COYS!

I can’t stand it how Lamela is the first person to receive flak in here when the team is struggling. Taking him off, just as we were starting to gain a bit of intensity, was fucking suicide from Poch. Pissed off.

They were simply too good for us. Man for man they were better. The only person in our team I would not think of retaining over a longer term is Lamela. He missed so many opportunities in the final third.

I posted the following in March. People generally disagreed at the time. Still stand by every word.

Lamela is a strange one. He has the skill of a freestyle artist but is technically limited. He simply cannot use his right foot, his first touch is poor and he does not have tactical awareness to compensate for these limitations (like a Ryan Giggs). He frustratingly almost inevitably loses the ball in key attacking areas.

He is strangely almost more beneficial defensively - full of aggressive running and tackling, covering significant ground off the ball and provides fairly decent circulation in deep positions - which is why Poch puts him on when he wants to increase intensity. Useful in particular games where we already have creative outlets. Frustrating in games where we are looking for additional creativity and ball retention.

Lucas Moura is a significant upgrade. Wonderful attacking creative touch and movement, good finishing ability and running. Really looking forward to see him completely settled in and playing regularly. Dan Levy got us a great deal there.

Better team won and City is by a large margin the best team in the league. They had under par games against United and Liverpool but they are still dominated the whole league this season. That said we looked lackadaisical and totally out of rythm in the first half which is worrying.

To be fair we could have had a penalty kick either at Kompanys stamping on Alli or the challenge on Lamela - and the match could have taken a completely different turn. It simply wasn't our day at multiple levels.

Also Kane shouldn't be starting matches if he's not a 100% fit. I love him to death but I hope he doesn't put his ego before the best of the team.

Careful now, where's your rose tinted? Don't you know Davison and Lloris can't be called out?
