What a relief. Another ropey performance but what a goal to win it. That's why he's still on the pitch ladies and gentlemen!

Big love for Huddersfield. They played like warriors!

I thought Wanyama looked back to his best tonight. I hope his injury isn’t too bad.

Trippier a doubt for the World Cup possibly according to Poch.

Not a good performance but we got the job done. Events at Stamford Bridge make it a sweeter night.

Judging this performance and recent games, I believe the players are mentally jaded. It's been a long, stop-start campaign and given the circumstances, third is a very good finish. Certain players look very leggy and you can see that by the number of promising looking moves being killed by poor execution of pass. I've not seen so many passes in one half go behind its intended man as it was in the second. The defending on our part was good and can't fault the effort.

Shelvey played well tonight and I'm impressed by his more mature performances under Benitez. I think he has good attributes that we could do with in the middle of the park and that is he's got a forward thinking mind. He sees the forward pass but also executes them well - particularly over long distance. At times with us it's a bit too much passing for passing's sake in the middle of the park and it borders on shifting responsibility.

Really? I thought he was atrocious throughout the first half. So many silly misplaced passes

There was a period where he was like that yeah but on the whole he was strong, in position, hard in the tackle and did what he’s good at. Carried the ball forward a few times too.

Does the team finishing 4th have to play a qualifier to make champs league group stages & 3rd place team don't or no real difference between finishing 3rd or 4th? Everything i've seen just seems to say we've qualified for the champs league

That really was a tremendous effort by Huddersfield. I suppose the game fell well for us, with what was at stake for them, but after running themselves into the ground in the heat on Sunday to withstand another battering at Chelsea, who had the luxury of making several changes, was amazing really. I thought they might have been tempted to hold back for the home game on Sunday. Just as well it wasn't us needing to beat them.

Not as good as he looks, Hollywood passes don't make a good player. His positional play is still poor, his decision making has improved but is still not all that and he is just poor off the ball.

In team like Newcastle his risks are worth playing with, in larger team I'm not sure. You have to keep in mind, teams like us and generally the bigger teams play with a lot of space behind the defense, most of the teams we face play with very little space behind the defense. His skill set is no way near as useful in that environment.

Also he didn't make our midfield look amateurish, our midfield was amateurish, which what happens when you play your 3rd/4th choice CM with your literally last choice CM, neither of which are good passers of the ball. I hope we never have to play that pair together again.
Again, I'm not saying we should sign him or that he's a good player. There's a difference between thinking someone had a very good game and thinking they are a very good player.

There were plenty of times where we could have played quicker passes and got in behind, or at least in behind their midfield. Instead we had players taking three or four touches, our passing was ponderous and the weight of pass was poor. I could easily argue that the quickness and range of his passing tonight is exactly what we need when playing teams that sit deep. His use of the ball was tremendous and if he had better players getting on the end of those passes we would have been in bigger trouble. Now, he's probably had four poor games before tonight, but that doesn't make his performance any less good.

On way home. (Getting the Chiltern Rail to Marylebone is a great route).

What a game. The stress was palpable. We did it. No bottling. Well done lads.

On the match, have to say Jonjoy Shelvey is some player. I don’t know if he’s consistent and I know he has a temperament problem - but he wouldn’t look out of place in a Champions’ League team based on the times I’ve seen him play (red card against us aside...!).

His passing was really impressive- quick, short, long and vision very good. His tackling and jostling was also impressive. He should go to the World Cup, IMO.

Anyway, reason for this post is that he’d be a great Dembele replacement assuming he’s off, but I’d be surprised if we ever moved for him in view of the attitude stuff and the English player premium price tag.

Well done Spurs - and well done everyone in the stadium today. Great noise ans support.

Let’s get 3rd! COYS!
