On the night results went our way. Last week it was WBA that did Chelsea a favour. I get both arguments and they both have merit. Overall we did it ourselves, our results over 37 games were that much better, but it doesn't hurt to say thank you Huddersfield.

Herbert Chapman, Bill Shankly and now David Wagner have managed what is actually a club with a decent history, from a hat-trick if league titles to the Yorkshire Electricity Cup :D

So...I'm sat here wondering whether Sky Sports are going to spend the rest of the week telling all and sundry that Liverpool can be overtaken in the race for top 4.

You know, question Liverpool's resilience in the battle for top 4.

I'm thinking we'll be informed that there is a battle for remaining spot, but none of this 'Spurs only club to fail' or 'bottle it' jibes that were directed at the club.

Anyway...regardless...feck you Sky, we won, we're Champions League bound next season, shoved your Wembley hoodoo right back at ya..
Unlucky.

Amy Lawrence (Guardian) I'm pretty sure she is a Gooner fan.

Tottenham will finish as the top London club for the first time in 23 years. The last time they had the capital’s bragging rights dates back to 1994‑95, when they finished seventh (just above QPR and Wimbledon), since the season Blackburn won the title. Modern Tottenham want to continue to look up. Levy has not historically used Champions League qualification as essential to the sums for the season, but there is no doubting how easy it is to get used to all this.

Saw Benitez claim Newcastle should have had two penalties. I'm guessing one of those claims was where Lloris made a desperate tackle on Richie inside our 6 yard box (but appeared to get a big chunk of the ball). I've no clue whatsoever what their 2nd penalty claim was - can anyone enlighten me?

The date, 9th May yesterday was pinging around in my head, it turns out it was the anniversary of the Saturday Man City 1981 final at the Old Wembley and also the 1st leg of the Anderlecht final in 1984.

37 and 34 years ago.

Sign of the times eh ? Shame we couldn't get 60k like Arsenal always do.

Guardian stat again :

With so much at stake, it was also surprising to see so many empty seats. The attendance of 54,923 was the club’s third lowest of the league season.

Midweek game in the capital, Wembley fatigue. Will be a different story on Sunday.

Haven't got a clue but if he wants to play that game we should have had three and playing against ten men.
I think he got it right though when he said we were anxious and making mistakes.

If that had been at Newcastle it would have been a full house and two thousand people locked out.

Midweek game in the capital.

Wembley fatigue.

I’m not sure what this means? Really worries me that our new stadium will have large sections of people who pick and choose what games to attend, especially if tickets are already paid for.

Look people can moan about form and mistakes all they like but i can see that the effort put in over the season has been immense and the lads deserve so much credit for another top 4 finish.

Let us not underestimate how tough it was for them to get used to playing at Wembley. We basically gave the rest of the league a head start before we adjusted. We deserve 2nd imo.

The form and mistakes are as a result of the team being drained. They've very little left in the tank. I wish there was no world cup this year and i worry about next season all ready.

So please, think before posting moans or complaints on here. Its really damaging the enjoyment we're all supposed to get when we log onto this site, especially after a win.

Congrats to MP and the boys. Love them all!

I think there was one where Verts gave someone a very sly shove in the back in the area.

I quite like Amy Lawrence's stuff - but yes, a Gooner indeed.

If any further proof was needed it's here in this pithy comment at the opening of paragraph three:

"The idea that an elite club’s ambitions live or die by the Champions League is a bit hysterical..."

It’s why I think we’ve got the capacity of the new stadium right. We are a well supported club, but I’m not sure we have quite the hardcore support we think we do and there is a limit to how many fans turn up regardless, which could be a factor years down the line if we drop out of the top four etc.

Wembley is definitely a factor though which I don’t think will exist at the new stadium. Personally, there have been many occasions ( even for some bigger games) where the thought of the whole Wembley thing genuinely made me feel I couldn’t be arsed. I still went, but I will admit that come the Watford game I did just choose not to bother.

I’ve never felt like that at WHL and doubt I will at the new stadium.

Having said that, I was still a bit surprised at how many didn’t turn up last night, considering there were no weather or transport issues, the importance of the game and the fact it wasn’t even on tv.
