Of course it's his fault. He should only consult VAR if he doubts his decision. Instead he is using it for almost everything that happens in the penalty area.
He clearly is doubting everything he does, so he shouldn't be out there at all.

Video ref in rugby works well because you and everyone in the stadium can hear what the ref is saying.

They need to do that with VAR. As it stands, you have people in the stadium just watching what they thought was a perfectly good goal disallowed without any clue as to why. Football crowds are rowdy enough, if you get a situation like that in the wrong game you'll get a really bad situation.
