I hope we do not install red seats at the request of the nfl or potential sponsor.
That would be appalling.

Other than that, it seems strange that the nfl are seemingly happy with such a small stadium -
they can easily fill wembley so why didn't they bung Levy (another?) £100k or so and make it 80,000 capacity?

They're not bothered - they'll just increase the ticket prices (supply and demand)

Not exactly correct.

- MLB permits kids to go straight from high school to the pros, but typically the kids go into to a teams minor league system to develop.
- NFL does not anymore due to two primary reasons. One, their unofficial partnership with the NCAA and, two, 17, 18, 19 year old kids would literally die without the physical maturity and weight training they gain in college.
- NBA used to allow high school kids to go straight to the pros, but their unofficial partnership with the NCAA, as well as the general immaturity level of high school kids earning millions, made them switch to a minimum requirement of 1-year removed from their high school graduating class. Most go to college, some go overseas.
- NHL allows immediate entry, but the kids typically go through a minor league system to adapt/mature/wait their turn for the pros.

I know you may have been joking and actually saying that it's a good idea to educate before being handed millions, but I thought this would be a good place to put this out there regardless.
thanks for the clarification! I imagined it wasn't that simplistic, good to know some detail appreciate it! (y)

Hi, please excuse my ignorance. I understand what we gain from the NFL tie up, but what does the NFL get out if the deal?
Are they looking at creating an NFL competition in the UK/Europe?

At the moment they are looking to make money off the sizeable fan base in Europe and if it proves profitable then they'll set up a franchise in London to join the NFL.

Move an existing franchise I thought? According to chatter ...

But honestly. Who the fuck knows it's all pretty much conjecture around a kernel of truth, being that we'll host min 2 games a year over 10 years for a rental fee per game.

Long term the thinking may be to have international franchises in the major cities, London and Tokyo as examples maybe to start with.

Lilbaz maybe I am being naive but I can't see how two games can be finically worth it, it is the commercial rights ? Or do you think there is more clauses in the contract to up the games if it goes well?

For us it will be increased sponsorship (including naming rights) our corporate demand will go up, also some of these fans will probably visit our store, museum etc... (Mostly tourists). We will probably stock nfl gear as well and take a percentage.

Also we can hold plenty of other events without worrying about the pitch, concerts, boxing, xgames etc...

For nfl it is trying to break into the european market which potentially could be just as big as the american.

I imagine we would never get planning permission for 80,000 (or sell out games!)

I did a real double take when I heard 'Tottenham Hotspur' mentioned in the sports segment on our local news tonight.

This aspect seemed underplayed in the announcement, but seems huge to me.
  • The kind of events Libaz listed. Remember the story that AEG were going to buy us (http://www.planetspurs.com/forums/i...mericas-34th-richest-man-to-buy-spurs-report/). Much more likely is that the dialogue was around AEG handling the organisation of non-football events at the stadium.
  • More first team training and junior fixtures at the ground
  • Private stadium hire (corporate, vanity events)
  • Community/school events.
Is there anything in the FA rules that prevents us playing Premier League matches on plastic?

lol 10th richest in Europe doesnt mean much tbh, where do we stand in our own league? I really don't understand how with the transfer window so far, the ITK about Poch being happy, the new stadium annoucment and pictures that some fans can only bash ENIC. We could be a hell of a lot worse off. Many a club has had richer man buy them on a promise of millions getting spent, look at Villa. Clubs have men come in and spend look at QPR and Cardiff nothing happened. Where is this gaurantee we will have it better, you give me that gaurantee that with ENIC and Levy gone we will be a better and more successful club. Can you do that?

We are the 6th richest in enland though.
If you want to be successful and attract top players you need cl football. If it wasn't for oil money we would have it.
