Tottenham interested in AC Milan forward Rafael Leao

Tottenham Hotspur are one of the sides interested in signing Rafael Leao amid speculation over his future with AC Milan, according to a report from Calciomercato.It.
Leao has taken his game to another level over the last couple of years. He was directly involved in 21 goals in Serie A last year as the Rossoneri won the Scudetto.

His productivity has improved each season since he joined AC Milan as a 20-year-old, so he certainly seems to be on the right trajectory and not simply another youngster who people are raving about after a purple patch.

2019-20: 9 goals & assists in 33 apps
2020-21: 13 goals & assists in 40 apps
2021-22: 26 goals & assists in 42 apps
2022-23: 11 goals & assists in 9 apps (so far)

He's reportedly 188cm tall, so would fit our recent physical profiling too. ?

Very fast and strong and a serious left foot. One of Milan's best players but will cost a fortune and its not as though they need to sell him.

I honestly don't think he would see Spurs as a step upwards. I think he will end up with one of Europe's top 3 or 4 clubs. He is that good imo.

This guy is being touted around the 130m mark. For similar money, we could get James Maddison and a top class CB (Dr Vrij, Bastoni, Skriniar, Gvardiol - any of these guys will do).

Bastoni has been mediocre at best this season. So no, "any of these guys" will not do.

Yes we could spend money on other areas, but I have to admit, I'd not be disappointed if we landed one of Europe's top young strikers.

I've bought Leao on FM for the last few games. He invariably displaced Sonny by the end of season 1. For a couple of years he cost £15m, then it was closer to £40m last year, and FM22 they wanted £110m. ?

Never ever seen him play, but based purely on his beastlyness for me on FM since 2019 it's a yes from me
