Tottenham’s move for Blackburn teenager Ashley Phillips will not impact their bid to sign a new senior centre-back this summer.

We have already sold Winks, released Moura, sent Lenglet & Danjuma back (neither of them was particularly surplus last season), and Lloris' departure is all but finalised. That's five out. Vicario, Maddison, Solomon, Udogie (always intended to join up with our first team this summer) & Phillips is five in, so no net change to our squad size in theory.I'm wondering when our squad trimming is going to start or are we stocking up to enter a second squad in the league
I've been reading that Phillips is likely to go back on loan once signedWe have already sold Winks, released Moura, sent Lenglet & Danjuma back (neither of them was particularly surplus last season), and Lloris' departure is all but finalised. The problem is that Paratici sent most of our deadwood out on loan without an obligation to buy last summer. I'm not shocked that none of the options to buy were taken up and every returning loanee is another player we need to sell (even if Ange wants to keep one, an existing player would need to be sold to make room for them).
I'm not sure how ready Phillips is for the Premier League (very few 18-year-old CBs are), so my assumption is that he'll be taking Tanganga's spot in the first instance. I'm expecting all of Tanganga, Rodon & Sanchez to move on, with Phillips plus a LCB (e.g. VdV / Tapsoba) replacing them, and Dier & Davies remaining but slipping down the pecking order.
