So I have urged caution about having a go at Bale over that story which really went hot yesterday. Now we have the ultimate ITK that it is true, that Pink shorts wearing asshole is fair game.

Lamela isn't confirmed and trained. Bale decided to be a petulant brat. So already there is one thing I like about Lamela more than Bale.

Cue the insults flying to his twitter account. :sneaky:

At least he is leaving for a hefty fee. The kid could have easily handed in a transfer request or gone public with his desire to leave. That would have drastically reduced the amount we got for him. We don't need to bad mouth every ex spurs player. He did a lot for us and the money we get for him is going to take us to a whole new level. I for one am grateful that we had him and I wish him luck in the future.

I don't. In all likelihood, the transfer would have happened anyway. No need to act like a spoiled brat. Fuck him.

Come on, leave the sour grapes out guys and just accept it and move on.

I feel we are entitled to sour grapes when a player that has been given so much by a club, OUR club, shows a blatant disregard to everything linked to it other than himself. Not that with modern players it's a massive surprise..

nice to finally have confirmation to what i've assumed all summer. Bale is a bit of a Douce bag with his fake injury.
Hope he enjoys his time at Real and it doesn't go all Michael Owen on him

He was gone the minute he had his ears pinned back. If you think about it, that's when it all started to be about image etc etc. Fair enough it meant he lost the PG Tips contract and he was never going to be a poster boy for Fyffes, but it's brought him much more lucrative deals. Can't say I blame him for wanting to go to Madrid, but all this monkey business about him not turning up for training etc etc has left a sour taste. And no amount of 'I love the fans and I hope they understand' bollocks is going to gloss over that.

It sounds silly but you're right (in regards to the ear's being pinned back being the start of his 'transformation')... He has started to believe his own hype, would a lot of us do the same in his situation though? Most probably.

I just can't understand the people who think he is still going to be the same 17 year old shy, awkward looking kid who arrived with us. He clearly has an arrogance about him nowadays. You can see that from his on the field antics and how he now conducts himself off the pitch (fashion wise etc)

Don't get me wrong it was that arrogance that won us many points last season, so there's a flip side to every story.

All in all, it's a case of :

Thanks for the memories Gareth but you've badly tarnished your reputation with a club you will have spent half your career with upon retirement. Silly, silly boy. Good luck succeeding with all the eyes in the footballing world watching your every move.

Not training was petulant but we'll never know the true discussions and what concessions were given.

Having said that, I agree with you and personally, I thank him for being a wonderful player at this club and wish him the best in Madrid.

AVB:

"If it happens"

"It could happen"

Not signed yet, still time to move the goal posts ;)

It seems like AVB has had enough of this saga though and most likely doesn't want him in his plans. I think that the Club as a whole will be feeling 'let down' by Bale's attitude and will want him out. (For a world record fee!)

Can't compare the Rooney deal mate and trust me, if Madrid were sniffing round him as much as Bale then Rooney would have been offski.

He's going abroad, we are getting a (likely) world record amount and in Lamela we have one of the most exciting talents coming through and can step into the void.

At least Rooney handed in a transfer request and trained with the team and played when required. I dont think Real Madrid comes into it, Rooney would have got paid alot more at Chealsea. Bale has simply been a little bitch and showed an utter lack of respect for the club, his team mates and most importantly us the fans. Nothing wrong with him wanting to go but there is away to go about things. I dont buy into the thansk for the memories.... 2 seasons. He would of still gotten his move if he had went about it in a different fashion.

Anyone else get the impression the Mirror aren't even there? Just looking at other journalists' tweets

It's a real shame, but GB has completely screwed this up. He's done his best Veruca Salt impersonation and that is extremely disappointing. Glad to see the end of this, the back of him, and I'm incredibly excited about the upcoming season. :)

Meh, don't care about Bale anymore, but I do hope Ronnie blanks him when he first meets the team, that would be quite funny :)

I don't get the "get over it posts", he has shown disrespect for the fans and the club, why should we move on?

It's going to be embarrassing for him though when he realises his idol doesn't want him to be there and snatches the ball off him for every freekick.

Bale has helped us strike gold, which will ultimately make us stronger in the long run. I think in light of this, there is no need to be bitter & childish about him leaving!!!

It's a shame these last minute transfers destroy our relationships with our leaving players.

I would have liked Berbatov, Modric and Bale to have come back to Spurs at some point.

Thank god it's nearly over, we've gone from a so called one man team to a team packed with strength, experience and an even greater quality.
We have more options all over the pitch and when Lamela arrives we have another rising star.

Thanks for the memories Gareth...but even more thanks for making us a better team without you.

AVB not happy about Townsend being called up? How odd. Unlikely to go down well with Townsend, that.

Come on, leave the sour grapes out guys and just accept it and move on.

It's disappointing because I thought he was a down-to-earth likeable guy. I expected more from him than I would from other players in our team, and even though he became a superstar he still seemed happy to play for us.

Now he's been acting like a petulant child, faking injuries whilst plotting his "dream move". I still want him to do well in Madrid, but secretly a part of me wants him to flop badly. I also want Real Madrid to suffer three straight relegations.
