Unai Emery’s pursuit of Leeds United star Tyler Adams could clear a path for Douglas Luiz to leave Aston Villa amid interest from Premier League rivals. It is believed north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham are both keen on the 25-year-old former Man City star.

Overkill to bring in another midfielder. Bentancur will be back, hopefully sooner rather than later. Spend the money at CB and RW.

Very impressed with Luis against Newcastle. Easily Villa's best player IMO.

On the face of it I feel the same way, but he is a good player and if this link has any real credibility then i'd hope/expect it is part of a plan that the manager has been instrumental in.

I just don't want anything holding us back on going 100% for the best CB we can get. Luiz feels like over-stuffing the cushion to me, even though he's a very good player. I'd sooner give minutes to Sarr.

We will get someone once Hojbjerg leaves, he would be a good option. Too pricey probably.

Couldn't disagree regarding the midfield, but on the CB's i do have a feeling that we might be viewing VdV wrongly, in that he might be seen by Ange as his preferred starting CB, rather than how many of us fans view him as a great rotational option to another top CB. Not much to base that on, VdV looked pretty raw to me in the limited highlights i've seen, but a couple of things Ange has said or hinted at makes me think he's his no.1 choice for that spot.

I don't like our cover options for Romero tbh. Bremer and Chiesa has a nice ring to it. Anyway, this is the Luiz thread, and if Ange wants him that's fine by me.

Luiz would be class. Him, Maddison and Bissouma is a very good midfield and would cover us while Bentancur is out. Then let the 4 of them fight for who gets in the midfield 3 moving forwards.

We need competition and squad depth.
