Wasn't there some ITK after the Newcastle fiasco saying Poch went nuts and said some players would leave. Maybe Son is one of them.

I reckon there's some miles in this. Was Son a stop gap? If we can make a profit and replace with better and cheaper ??? It's DL's MO after all.

Make a profit? Are you insane?!

£22m was a lot of wonga. Guess that its staggered so we may get our money back if we've not paid upfront

I thought Poch didn't do stop gaps anyway?

Didn't he buy and sell Stambouli in a season?

I'm not sure how much he wanted Stambouli. Wasn't he a Baldini special when we couldn't get Schneiderlin? He was also a cheap shot in the dark like Holtby.

Since Baldini was left out in the cold, the message has been we don't sign players for the sake of it and Poch would rather wait for the right player. Hence no back up striker

I'm not saying we won't flog him but the idea we spent £22m on Son, our third biggest transfer ever, as a planned stop gap is fairly ridiculous

Funny how Lamela was as bad in his first season, and was cut some slack for being in a new league and that was all o.k.

Son has been injured and now appears back to full fitness. If he was to be sold (and i would very much doubt this) Levy would take a huge loss, and therefore this is unlikely to happen.

I would like to see him given a good full season (the same with Clinton) before either are ever considered for sale. It's plain daft to think that a player with an injury hit season should become a scapegoat and sold because those around him were collectively responsible for blowing second place.

He has scored seven goals in twenty seven appearances in an injury plagued season, in a new country and league, what more any one on here can expect given those circumstances is beyond me.

Lamela may have performed worse but his attitude since signing had been first class always showing a desire to fight for his place and improve / adapt hours game to the PL

Who am I to say anything but I just don't see the same kind of desire and intensity from Son. Maybe he's too laid back and casual for Poch. He's seems happy-go-lucky which is endearing by you get the sense that Poch like a fighter in his ranks.

So we give a crap lamela 2 years to come good yet, Son, who hardly gets a game, is being sold? Did the fucking club not learn anything from Dembele, sit him on the bench he does fuck all, play him and he's a fucking beast. Son needs games, simple as that.

Can't see it to be honest. With CL next year we need a strong squad and other areas are a priority. Chadli and Son are proven quality back ups in the wide positions unless they see something in njie.

I'd say it's pretty unlikely

He really hasn't impressed though so it's not completely out of the question for he or N'jie to be moved on if say wed/Poch has distinct targets that require financial offsetting (it would depend which of our potentially surplus players could raise the required cash)

Think you've got rose tints on Lamela because he's become so vital. His attitude stunk at the start, his improvement has been phenomenal

If this is true then it is absolutely ridiculous, I thought the days of getting in a player and then getting rid of him after one season were over with this scouting set up.

It would suggest that Poch never wanted Son in the first place.

Interestingly, in isolation his contribution in basic numbers almost betters Lamela's first two seasons. The ultimately futile Europa effort does sway things a tad though

Lamela - 13/14
3 league starts/6 sub - 0 goals/1 assist
5 Europa starts/1 sub - 1 goal/2 assists
2 cup starts - 0 goals/0 assists
10 starts/7 sub - 1 goal/3 assists
Team finished 6th

Lamela - 14/15
25 league starts/8 sub - 2 goals/7 assists
4 Europa starts/3 sub - 2 goals/0 assists
2 cup starts/3 sub - 1 goals/1 assists
31 starts/14 sub - 5 goals/8 assists
Team finished 5th

Lamela 13-15
28 League starts/14 sub - 2 goals/8 assists
9 Europa starts/4 sub - 3 goals/2 assists
4 cup starts/3 sub - 1 goal/1 assist
41 starts/21 sub - 6 goals/11 assists

Son - 15/16
13 league starts/15 sub - 4 goals/1 assist
9 Europa starts/2 sub - 5 goals/8 assists
3 cup starts/2 sub - 1 goal/1 assist
25 starts/19 sub - 10 goals/10 assists
Team finished 3rd

He's very popular in the dressing room by all accounts, everyone says so in interviews. Maybe this is Poch's way of punishing the team for fucking about in the last four games

At £22mill. it might be hard to make a profit; although I did hear that Arsenal were really after him as well as Spurs. However whether Spurs would even speak to those guys is a big question.

The only thing I'd want to sell to that lot is our Spursiness.
