Tottenham have had a £10millon bid for PSV Eindhoven winger Memphis Depay accepted, with current Spurs midfielder Nacer Chadli set to join the Dutch club in part-exchange.

Depay is ready to join Jan Vertonghen, Christian Eriksen and Nacer Chadli, all of whom have swapped Dutch football for White Hart Lane in recent years.

So Depay is joining Chadli who is leaving?

Depay is a good exciting player, surprised Chadli is leaving though. thought it might be one of the other fringe players who may be going.

Maybe they meant he's joining Chadli in making the move from the Eredivise to Tottenham?

Either that or the writer is full of it.

They appear to have edited the article to remove the ambiguity.

Denied by PSV.

Hypothetically though.... would you do that deal?

Chadli + 10m for Depay

I thought Chadli might work pretty well in a Poch system, he's pretty flexible...

How are we to make any sense of this? We have agreed the fee with PSV but it would appear nobody told PSV because they are denying a deal has been agreed.

So apparently, we've agreed the fee with ourselves.

Somebody once called this 'the silly season'. How apt. How very apt.

Am I missing something here, from the article:

"Tottenham are confident of landing PSV winger Memphis Depay - even though Nacer Chadli would not be prepared to go the other way in part-exchange.
The north Londoners were looking at a £10million cash-plus-player bid yesterday. Chadli, however, is determined to fight for his place at White Hart Lane.
Spurs, however, still want Depay."

So the headline is 10m + Chadli but it's clear in the article Chadli isn't involved. WTF???????

Doesn't this prove beyond a shadow of doubt, that The Daily Mirror (like many other redtop rags) has no idea what the f**k is going on? I mean, the headline says quite clearly that we have agreed the transfer but obviously, we haven't, as the article goes on to say. As if these bloody windows weren't confusing enough without the papers telling blatant lies.

Jesus Christ almighty.

Chadli arrived last summer as part of Tottenham’s £100million spending spree. Although he impressed in patches under former boss Tim Sherwood, he has not done enough to convince Pochettino he should stay.

Has he even met Pochettino yet? Did not think he had come back from the WC

Good man to fight for a place with Azza. It's about time....he hasn't got any decent man to really fight for on the right.

But I think Chadli should stay. He's pretty much can play anywhere in the midfield

This is the next step in the desperate bid for clicks . Simply lie in the headline . Its looking like there's no downside to this .The 'journalist' who made this up will be getting a clap on the back by his employers .

I would hope that whoever posts these items here in SC would look at the article and if headlined with a blatant lie , would change the headline or deem the article too shit to include here .

My hopes are looking pretty battered atm .

edit : Solution put Darren Lewis on a list of unacceptably inaccurate 'journalists' vet anything he produces . If the work is usual fantasy click bait... ignore . Can't be too hard can it .

I really don't want us to give up on Chadli, he showed flashes of real quality last season with his brace at Benfica and the screamer vs Newcastle. He's shown he's adaptable to play RW, LW, CAM, CM or CF and is still young.

If we show some faith in him then I fully expect him to be one of our better players in the long run.

I don't believe this story at all. If by any chance there is any truth in it, I can see Van Gaal moving in to buy him and then loaning him back for one season as he has advised Depay to stay in Holland for one more year.
honestly though, where do these papers get their stories from. Do they actually make them up or do they base them in the flimsiest of sources.

Has the Mirror article been completely rewritten? It bears no relation to the title of this thread. No mention anywhere of a transfer being agreed.
