Tottenham are in talks with several Dubai-based companies over the potential sponsorship of their new stadium.

Paul Barber, Spurs’ executive director, has been in the region canvassing potential sponsors.

“We always felt that the Middle East and the Far East were the best places to look for sponsorship partners,” said Barber. “This is because there are many emerging brands here which are looking for exposure in Europe.

“As well as the huge amount of print and television coverage a deal like this would generate, it would also give a new brand a key place in the skyline of central London.”

Planning permission for the stadium, to be built adjacent to the existing White Hart Lane, has been submitted and could take up to a year before building begins.

The current shirt sponsorship deal between Tottenham and Mansion expires next year. It is understood that any sponsorship deal could begin as soon as the contract with Mansion expires.

Arsenal have enjoyed a successful and lengthy partnership with Emirates, who gave their name to the club’s stadium as Ashburton Grove, and Spurs believe a similar arrangement would be beneficial to the club.

Barber refused to reveal the names or numbers of companies he is in discussion with, adding: “We don’t want to get involved in guessing games. Negotiations are ongoing and we want to take things slow. This could be a deal that lasts between 10-20 years, so there is no need to rush.”

Spurs are the most deserving team in the EPL which should secure investment from the Mideast;definetly a big club by any standards, and Spurs have given ample opportunities for players who originated there to join their ranks. It would be money well invested.

Wont find much in Dubai for a while. Nakheel would've been a good shout but they're pretty much broke now. Abu Dhabi all Man City and Barcelona now (Mubadala and Etisalat respectively).

They would do better sponsoring the formula one club from West London wouldn't they .

Like to see how they would fit a super stadium onto the existing footprint !
