If those two really are sorted and we've actively working on closing Schneiderlin, I'd prefer if we just sat back and let Pochettino wrap up the USA tour before pushing for any more transfers. 3 that have strengthened the team where we needed it, let's just allow the manager to evaluate his squad before making any rash decisions on transfers. A good deal isn't so good when you don't actually need the player and don't have a place in the squad to fit him.

I'm sure they have Pochettino's approval to push on with the likes of Schneiderlin, a former player of his after all. They probably drew up the list of targets with him before the squad left for the states.

In fact I think its reasonable to assume that Schneiderlin is definitely a big preference for Poch.

I'd imagine after Schneiderlin we'll need to shift players out of the squad before anymore incomings anyway,

I wonder if the impending Lovren deal to 'pool will throw a spanner in the works or maybe Koeman/Southampton have resigned themselves to losing both and rebuilding with players who want to ply their trade at the SCBC.

I totally agree with you. What I'm trying to say is that we finish up Vorm, Davies, and Schneiderlin and then let Pochettino have a good 2 weeks with the squad to work out where he thinks we need to strengthen and who we can ship off. I can see another 2-3 players leaving, with 1 more coming in before the end of the window.

I really hope we've learned from last season and don't do our important business late. I also hope we don't get more than 4-5 players. That's asking for trouble. 1-2 top players to improve key places next summer. At some point we can't be overhauling the squad anymore, we have to just fine tune and let the rest work itself out...

Don't see why the Lovren deal would affect our move for Schneiderlin. I know there was ITK to say they'd only sell one more player, but that doesn't ring true to me at all.

Business is business and if prices are met both players will be gone. Its not like they have no time to rebuild and replace them.

I think despite their CE's protestations, Koeman will want a fresh start, and not embittered players.

No I tend to agree - Southampton have generally been pretty compliant with the outbound transfers but the fee could still be a real sticking point and I dare say our valuations could be wider than people think.

Yeah agreeing the fee will be the trick. I reckon we'll get him for around 15/16 million in the end though. Poch clearly wants him and Levy will have to back him. We're also clearly going to be selling which facilitates this deal obviously.

In some respects, I'm surprised Southampton haven't been in for Sigurdsson as he'd fit their remit quite well i'd have thought.

Sky Sports understands Tottenham target Ben Davies has passed his medical and he has travelled with Spurs to Toronto ahead of their next friendly. Tottenham are hoping to tie up the move for theSwansea defender by tomorrow.

Stobart admitting that his story about Liverpool being favourites, which was released the same day as another story saying he had chosen us, was old info.

Since Davies and the club are both here in the states, can they do all of the work necessary for the transfer to go through so that Davies could join us in the next games? I guess the same would be true for Vorm.

Or would there need to be things done in London that would mean he would have to return to GB before working with us?

I'd expect for friendlies it shouldn't be too difficult, though last season in HK Chadli was training with the team and didn't feature in the games for paperwork reasons I think. It's not a bad flight from Toronto though so you'd expect even if he did need to do a full medical/paperwork he could fly home for a couple days and then back to play in the Toronto or at least Chicago game. Remy's apparently heading to the US to do his medical and join Liverpool on their tour also.

I think BD could be completed since both are in the states, are physios are there so it would just be a case of getting time booked somewhere to do an exam and getting the agents/lawyers access to the contracts.....but i think Vorm is still on post WC holiday at the moment so i am not sure how that would be handled, would we fly him in and take care of everything or just have him fly into London when he is done with playing on the beach.

I can see your logic, but if we sniff the chance to get a top draw signing, we should be all over it imo...tournament or not.
