Pisses me off in the end that we did the whole Janssen out Llorente in thing. Not because I think Llorente is a bad player or that I blame him. But when he arrived I thought we had a PLAN for using him. Turns out we didn't at all, and we might as well have stuck with Janssen rather than doing that whole switch.

Yeah but no-one can see into the future. I bet it didn't piss you off at the time. Fact is the plan was that he would be better when he came on and he ruined that plan by looking like he'd never played before. Playing shit will put all footballing plans to bed very quick.

I was very vocal that I wanted to keep Janssen for another year, you can go back and have a look at it. Once that wasn't happening and the decision was to sign a new striker, I was excited about Llorente because I thought there was a rationale behind it and that we had a plan for him, which clearly we didn't. It wasn't Llorente's fault it didn't work out, he was bought like a singer and asked to perform like a painter. Why didn't we at least try to put up a concert.

I agree it's difficult, but that alone was not a good reason for Janssen/Llorente out/in. Llorente actually, in theory, brought a different sort of flexibility to the squad and I was excited for that. But when we never ever tried to actually capitalise on that, we might as well have kept around the young striker that wasn't quite right, rather than signing the old striker that really was not right.

I understand you point on the misuse of Llorente; that if we didn't capitalize on Llorente's strengths we should have kept Janssen for another season.

We have failed time and time again to try to find a back-up for Kane. It's a tough reality for a player like Janssen who was accustomed to starting every match and being the top goal scorer to come to Spurs and sit on the bench and maybe play the last 15-20 minutes of the match and then get the odd start in the league cup.
For that reason, IF we have an academy player like Kaz Sterling (and maybe Griffiths, if he stays) that the coaches deem has the potential to be a first team player, why not let them train with the first team and name them to the match-day squad for several matches during the season? It's low risk from a financial standpoint, and giving them some minutes in the early rounds of the Carabao Cup against a lower division club would allow the coaches and opportunity to evaluate them. Additionally, training with the first team could only benefit either player and would give other academy players encouragement.

All Kane's fault.
The answer is obvious.
Play Llorente and Janssen in a 442
and party with the proceeds.
They'll get the Golden Boot between them
and wear it alternate weeks.

Sorted.

I have an image in my head of Levy printing off a price label like they used to have in Presto, and slapping it across Janssens mush...

Any ITK about outgoings and incomings? I don't get how haggling over sell-on prices will help the early acquisition of players that Poch wanted.
