Why is all this transfer nonsense,
rumour and speculation
from dubious sources
cluttering up the front page?

There's been a massive missunderstanding.

Tottenham pay £62 for "Fernandez" table from Ikea was the actual story.

Does anyone really believe any of the shit we're hearing?
Leopards do not change their spots. Levy/ENIC are not suddenly going to start bidding tens of millions over our highest ever transfers, especially a few days into the transfer window.
It just isn't going to happen.

Except that, contrary to the stereotyped view among fans, Levy does have form for pouncing on an expensive player in July, when he and his manager think there is value on offer for a special player who can make a difference. It goes back a long way and there are surprisingly many examples:

Berbatov - July 2006
Bale - May 2007 (not exactly expensive, but still...)
Modric - July 2008
Crouch - July 2009
Vertonghen - July 2012
Paulinho - July 2013 (not exactly successful, but certainly expensive)
Alderweireld - July 2013
Janssen - July 2016 (see under "Paulinho" above)

Even the expensive deals done in August are sometimes deals that were on the table early in the transfer window, but there was a disagreement about the fee that delayed matters until the last minute.

I have no idea whether we're going to go out and try to do major business next month - rumours suggest so - but it's not so that we sign the vast majority of our major new players at the last minute. At least one, sometimes two or three players were signed in every July between 2005 and 2016, except 2010.

It may not surprise you that I have been keeping a spreadsheet of incoming transfers since 2003, for the past decade ;).

One story I've seen says Man Utd = Done deal
&
Another says Liverpool are favourites ahead of United and Spurs.
.
Ah well.

It's currently June, not July.
We may occasionally sign players early, but only bargains. All the players you referenced were relatively cheap, even in their day.Record transfers are done late, after 2 months of trying to get them cheap.

I advise caution,
he's also got a spreadsheet
on SC members comments
about him
since 1957.

Just saying.

With all due respect. @mawspurs is just posting stuff to (hopefully) keep is informed of rumours etc. I'd imagine a fair amount of his/her time is taken up finding these stories/links for us to discuss.

If the sources were shit, A&C would close the threads sharpish.

But nobody is forcing anyone to read them & why take the time to complain about all this clutter if one can simply ignore it and move on?

With Man United and Real acting like a black wholes buying everybody who can kick a ball. I doubt we will be having a successful time in the market yet again.
Unless you start looking at the €90m> I don't see us signing the players we need.
There are some good EPL players like Brooks out which I think maybe more our level this summer.

1) 'Because it's there'
as I replied when asked
why I climbed Everest.

2) I have come to terms
with being banned from transfer forum
but the bloody things
seem to follow me around.

3) With all due respect
Mawspurs would be better employed
seeking out more
relevant and rewarding stuff.

4) No A&C wouldn't.
He loves all this bollocks
Apparently people flock to SC
from all over the world
for our ITK and Transfer rumours

5) I can't think of (5) for the moment
but I'm working on it.
and(6)

Ah well.

Are you trying to say the papers don't know what they're talking about and just publishing guesswork? Nahhhhh I don't believe that.
